During WWI red poppies were among the first plants to spring up in the devastated battlefields of No...rthern France and Belgium and becoming known as the flower or symbol of remembrance. The RSL first sold poppies for Armistice Day in 1921 in what is known today as the Poppy Appeal! 04.01.2022 We’re relieved by today’s announcement that #disability #advocacy will be funded for the next three years, and that the government has demonstrated its commitme...nt to independent advocacy. This ends more than three years of funding uncertainty. This funding will work towards guaranteeing the future of independent advocacy in NSW, ensuring that people with a disability will continue to have access to a voice and support when they need it most. We thank the NSW Government, and Gareth Ward for their support of advocacy and their commitment to people with disability through funding the sector. This is a win for people with disability in NSW who rely on advocacy, and who have campaigned tirelessly for this funding. We look forward to better understanding the detail of this important funding announcement and working with the government to co-design the new Disability Advocacy Futures Program based on the independent review undertaken by the NSW Ageing and Disability Commissioner a year ago. #standbymeNSW #advocacymatters Gladys Berejiklian Dom Perrottet MP People with Disability Australia Stroke Recovery Association Council for Intellectual Disability Physical Disability Council of NSW Disability Advocacy NSW musculardystrophynsw IDRS Multicultural Disability Advocacy Association of NSW First Peoples Disability Network COTA New South Wales NSW Council of Social Service - NCOSS
