25.01.2022 POWERHOUSE MUSEUM Excursion 17th January 2020. For kid inventors day PELC took the senior butterflies to powerhouse museum in the city. We had so much fun travelling on the bus, spotting out all the trucks, diggers and of course wet & wild caused a big excitement as we passed by! The children had such a great day and represented PELC so well, showing their skills of listening and sharing as we explored along side members of our community. We would like to say a big Thankyou to Powerhouse Museum for having us as well as Watsons Shuttle Service for transporting us safely to and from school and of course our wonderful parent volunteers Aimee, Kathleen and Sam for all being apart of our special day and making it a great day for all!
24.01.2022 AND WE ARE OFF! Today our senior butterflies are going on an excursion to the POWER HOUSE MUSEUM for kids inventor day! We are all SO excited! WATCH this space for all of our fun pics and videos... what an adventure! #excursion #powerhouse #museum
23.01.2022 Our Butterfly friend wants to be a fire fighter when he grows up. They help people, he says. To provide opportunity for conversation and exploration, an open ended space has been created within the Butterfly room. At PELC we focus on childrens interest we then use our environment as the third teacher, it allows for open ended learning and educators to be responsive teachers. ... Learning about safe fires and unsafe fires will empower children to be confident and knowledgeable about issues that effect them. 22.01.2022 At Penrith Early Learning centre we support children to learn from home, providing continuity in how to be and how to learn. We are using online technologies to stay connected and implement our exciting curriculum, even to those children learning from home! Our wonderful Senior butterfly room leader Miss Mel has been busy compiling fun, interactive and positive learning experiences that can be done at both home and in care! "I hope youre all safe and well and having lots of ...fun. Last week we did lots of counting and finding different ways to count to 10. This week we are going on a scavenger hunt to find lots of different things around us. Get mum or dad to print out the list attached and then lets get started..." Don't forget to ask your family to post pictures of what you found on your math scavenger hunt and maybe even try the inventor scavenger hunt. I love seeing your work! Have fun and I'll see you soon! What other activities have you been getting up to at home? - Love from Miss Mel
19.01.2022 Thank You families for all your support. This is a time we can be in the present moment with our children, spend time with them, hear their dreams, see their accomplishments. The old has to fall apart and fall away before something new flourishes. Wake up asking yourself everyday, what would you love to do?, what would I love for my child? And this is the future I am creating - one in which each and every one of us become into our true nature and fully access our innate capacity as human beings - which is to give, to love, to serve and to take of one another and the Earth

07.01.2022 From birth to early childhood, children use their five senses to explore and try to make sense of the world around them. At Penrith Early Learning Centre we provide children with opportunities to actively use their senses as they explore their world through sensory play, we base each small world play on the childrens interests. As adults, our senses provide us with vital information that we use to inform decisions making thousands of times a day. We may take this ability f...or granted and barely notice it, but its for this reason that helping children to learn about their own sense is so important. #smallworldplay #eylf #nqs #acecqa #letthemplay #kids #childsplay #childcare #penrith #learning #sensoryplay @ Penrith Early Learning Centre

03.01.2022 It is so important to ensure we are still staying connected with our children while we are self isolating. We need to ensure we are stimulating, attending to their early years of learning through activities. Building their autonomy and emotional well being is so important in this part of their lives and especially the times we are in. We can do this through educating our children having age appropriate conversations on why we are at home, washing our hands more and taking ex...tra precautions such as checking our temperatures. Please continue to focus on building your child's independence skills at home, serving their own meals, helping with house hold task are some ideas :) Get active each day with your child, outdoor activities you can head to https://www.healthykids.nsw.gov.au/ to get your hands on the resources we use at PELC. Happy Feet are also offering a at home program. I remind everyone it is a strong recommendation by the department of health children aged zero-two engage in zero screen time, children aged 2-5 years should be limited to less than one hour per day. Infants, toddlers and pre-schoolers should not be sedentary, restrained or kept inactive for more than 1 hour at a time with the exception of sleeping. PELC really supports this practice and believes it is best practice for children's development. We are posting activities on Instagram and Facebook, please like, share and follow us. We also want to know what you are doing at home. Please tag us, send photos and face time with us. We are making activity packs please send us a text if you would like one for your child let us know if you would like to pick it up or we can deliver them :) We would also like to know how we can help you, in our community please let me know if you know anyone who needs help to get their groceries ect.
