25.01.2022 Latest parkrun HQ update below. Important information to note within it: "our current position is that we will not open parkrun events in any country until we can do so across that entire country, safely and without compromising any public health guidelines in that country. We are also, at this stage, not looking to reopen events until we can do so in a way that is the same as or similar to how they operated before lockdown." https://blog.parkrun.com//covid-19-coronavirus-update-2-j/ - Kellie

24.01.2022 Today is the first day of the National Week of Deaf People and an opportunity to acknowledge our Deaf parkrunners. Sadly, due to coronavirus and suspension of parkrun, we cannot gather today to celebrate our special day - instead, a video recording by our Deaf and CODA (Child of Deaf Adult) volunteers is here for you all to enjoy. Please note that the video is muted (no sound) and a transcript is available for those wanting to understand the messages. #loveparkrun parkrun A...Continue reading
24.01.2022 Thanks to Wayne Cook for taking the photos today.
24.01.2022 Important announcement below from parkrun HQ. NYD will now only be a single event day for parkmates i.e. no more being able to run a parkrun double on this day. We are sadden by this decision, but understand the safety of event volunteers and parkmates across the world is number priority. - Kellie "We also see that very often there is a funneling effect at the second event. With more participants than usual on 1 January but with fewer events to go to as some events choose no...t to host an additional event, the result is significantly higher attendances at many events (sometimes 5-6 times a typical average attendance), which puts pressure on the volunteer team, has caused issues of late with landowners, and creates much busier car parks, cafes and paths. This is compounded by some events taking place later in the morning than usual, resulting in more congestion and conflict with other park users. For these reasons, we have taken the decision to remove the option for New Years Day doubles. We will still allow events to host an additional parkrun on 1 January, at their usual start time. Whilst we appreciate this might be disappointing news to some, we are still committed to retaining 1 January as an optional additional parkrunday. Our hope is that by removing the pressure of the double, event teams will feel comfortable hosting an extra parkrun if they wish to, providing an opportunity for the whole community to meet up and enjoy the New Years Day parkrun experience." James Kemp, Global Operations Manager

16.01.2022 Todays video post is by one of Penrith Lakes parkrun Run Directors, Margaret who is Deaf. Her message is in Auslan. For those wanting to understand her message a transcript has been provided. ******TRANSCRIPT****** Hello Penrith Lakes parkrun Family. Happy notparkrun day. Hope you are all well. My name is Margaret and I am one of Penrith Lakes parkrun Run Directors. I am Deaf. The voice you hear is my Deaf voice and I always have an Auslan interpreter with me to voice ...my message to you but today I do not have an interpreter. If you are still puzzled about what I am talking about please do not worry as I will type up a transcript of my message. WOW! It is hard to believe it is now five months since our last parkrun on 14th March 2020. After that our world changed and what a very different world we live in. Lots of rules we must respect and follow. It is good to see some of you still get up on Saturday morning and put on your parkrun shirt and go for a run, jog or walk. Sometimes we see our fellow parkrunners and say hello and know we must still keep a 1.5 metres apart distance, cant hug nor hi five. We miss that. When parkrun returns we still do not know because of the coronavirus but hope one day we can get together. I know you all miss the community, friendship and lot of things. Some of you have been putting your results of notparkrun. It wonderful to see that. I just want to remind you that you do not have to get up on Saturday morning to run 5 kms and you can do it on any day like Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday, Friday, Saturday or Sunday. Just post your results. Two days ago we put a post under Penrith Lakes parkrun about a podcast by Tom Williams who is parkrun Chief Operating person who talks about parkrun details and still working on how parkrun can return. If you can please listen to his talk. I want to say happy nonparkrun, please stay safe, remember your 1.5 metres distance and hand wash/sanitiser. Please take care. Before I go I wish and support parkrunners in Victoria because they are now in strict lockdown for six weeks and hope they can reduce the curve. Until parkrun returns please stay safe and well. Bye. 15.01.2022 Good morning everyone and welcome to another week of Penrith Lakes (not) parkrun! Today we are on the adventure course where you get to choose your own 5km path. Its great to see so many parkrun shirts out in the (socially distant) crowd. Make sure you dont give any on course marshals a high five. Remember parkrun is a run not a race so finishing up with a smile is the most important thing. Unfortunately we dont have a photographer today so please take an on course photo a...nd share with us. 3-2-1 GO! -Anita #loveparkrun #nobarcode #penrithlakes #sirc

A: The (not)parkrun week starts on Monday and ends on Sunday.... Q: When is the cut-off time to be included in a (not)parkrun week? A: Times must be uploaded by midnight Sunday to be included in a weeks results. Q: Will age grading be displayed in results? A: Yes, age grading will be displayed in the results table. Q: Will (not)parkrun stop when parkrun events return? A: At the moment we havent made a decision on how long (not)parkrun will continue. - Kellie
11.01.2022 In the lead up to (not)parkrun launching next week, we will answer some of your questions about what does it involve. Q: Im an existing parkmate. How do I register / do I need to re-register? A: You should not re-register. Every registered parkmate can participate in (not)parkrun, and can submit a time via their profile page. ... Q: Do I have to do my 5k at my home parkrun course? A: No - in fact we would prefer it if you didnt. You can walk, jog, or run your 5k anywhere you like (providing it is safe to do so). In your garden, to and from your house, it doesnt matter where your 5k is. We definitely do not want parkrunners turning up to their usual parkrun course at parkrun time. A: No, you can choose to do the same route, or something different every time, its entirely up to you.... Q: How do I submit a time? Do I need proof? A: You dont need proof of your walk, jog, run. (not)parkrun works on an honesty basis. Via a link in your profile you can submit a time any day of the week. Q: How often can I submit a time? A:You can only submit one time each day of the week. You can find out how to do this in your parkrun profile. Your fastest time that week will be included in that weeks results. Q: How do I log into my parkrun profile? 08.01.2022 Tomorrow is parkrunday! We are on the Cross Country Course. We still need a finish tokens volunteer before we can start - so let us know if you can help out. And - #dfyb - don’t forget your barcode! Please check out the attached COVID-19 Walker and runner and volunteer codes as well as the parkrun code. There are a few addition things to be aware of below:... All participants will be requested to check-in on arrival by scanning the QR code which will be located in various places around the start area. To scan, you will need to download the service NSW app and follow the prompts https://www.service.nsw.gov.au/campa/service-nsw-mobile-app If you don't have a smart phone with data, you can check in from home before you leave or ask a friend to check in for you as a dependant (with a different phone number) or as a new entry by rescanning the QR code. After the event, you will also need to check out. We will no longer be using the stopwatch or barcode scanner devices. These processes will now be touch free with the use of the parkrun Volunteer app which is free to download. If you have downloaded the app previously, please make sure you update it to the new version. When getting your barcode scanned on the new version, you just need to hold out your barcode and finish token and the scanner will pick them up from a good distance. Then you will be able to place your token in the bucket provided. Barcodes still need to be printed. The pre-parkrun briefing will be kept to a minimum. Unfortunately, we are no longer able to celebrate milestones in the briefing, instead we will do a shout out and congratulations on our post parkrun post on facebook instead. We will no longer have the selfie frame or key board, everyone will be responsible for their own keys. To make things even more interesting there are road works on Castlereagh Rd between Thornton Place and Jane St from 1-9th January, so please allow extra time if you normally come that way. See you on Saturday for the first timers briefing at 7.45am or the pre-run briefing at 7.55am. Penrith Lakes parkrun event team #dfyb #loveparkrun

03.01.2022 Latest parkrun HQ update - "Reopening specific regions within parkrun countries brings with it many complexities, not least the need to understand more localised public health guidance, respond accordingly, and ensure that we dont create issues for neighbouring regions. As such, at this time, our policy remains that we will only open parkrun events where we can safely and appropriately open every event in that country." https://blog.parkrun.com//covid-19-coronavirus-update-23-/ - Kellie
