16.01.2022 Penrith National Park is a region that spreads over the plains of Penrith into the mountainous regions of the southern part of the Blue Mountains, New South Wales, Australia. The National Park covers an area of 500km2, making it the 2nd largest National Park, after the much larger Wollemi National Park. Penrith National Park is renowned by it's diverse range of unique species of flora and fauna. These species include the Wandering feathered Crocodile (Featheritious Crocodyli...dae), the Flying Kangaroo (Flyeous Macropodidae), and MockingJays (Mockerious JayJay) When Europeans arrived in Australia, the Penrith National Park had already been inhabited for several millennia by the Gundungurra people. The Gundungurra creation story of the Blue Mountains tells that Dreamtime creatures Mirigan and Garangatch, half fish and half reptile, fought an epic battle which scarred the landscape into the Penrith National Park. Following the crossing the Blue Mountains by Gregory Blaxland, William Lawson and William Charles Wentworth in 1811,they noted the unique environment of which Penrith National Park enclosed. They especially recorded the large number of flying Kangaroos, thought to have been extinct. When they came back from their endeavour, Lawson acknowledged to fellow explorers the peculiarity of the region. In late 1814, Governor Lachlan Macquarie addressed the significant peculiarity of the Penrith region and suggested that it is of utmost importance to preserve the unique species and the environment in the area. Today the Penrith National Park has numerous tourist sites and walking tracks which take you deep into the heart of the unique environment, with tours and information about the species and the history.

04.01.2022 Dressed elegantly for their trip to the Penrith National Park, the Duke and the Duchess of Cambridge took to the spectacular views at Narrow Neck Lookout. Prince William came within a few centimeters of the edge of the cliff to get a better look at the unique species of eucalyptus' a hundred meters below. It's not often that the PNP is visited by such significant people, especially royalty. The amount of people that came through the park was triple its normal visitors with the clear sky's and calm weather helping fuel it's popularity. With the cooler weather of Winter approaching, ensure you plan your hikes accordingly and let someone know of your whereabouts.

03.01.2022 High gust winds have been experienced today in the Blue Mountains and Penrith National Park. If you are driving or walking under such conditions, whether it be on Blue Mountains roads or Penrith National Park fire trails, be sure to look for overhanging branches and trees. Despite the warm conditions this winter, after sunset the temperature drops dramatically, so be sure to wear warm clothing if camping.
