05.01.2022 Dear Pilgrims, We would like to provide you the latest updates regarding our Shrine SUNDAY MASSES: For the safety of our Pilgrims, and heeding government requirements for the sanitising of the church between the Holy Masses, we have made the decision to move the Sunday Masses as follows: ... Polish Mass at 9.30am, English Mass at 11am. For these 2 Masses bookings are compulsory as per the directives from NSW Health. Bookings can be made by contacting the Monastery by Friday before the Sunday you wish to attend, by email [email protected] or phone 4878 9192. You will need to supply your full name, email address or phone number. WEEKDAY MASSES: The latest Public Health Order (No. 4) has allowed us to open our grounds for the pilgrims to visit, however, as per the guidelines of the Diocese of Wollongong, our Shrine Church is being opened only for the celebration of the Holy Mass. Weekday Masses are celebrated at 11am, the church is opened at 10.45am and once the congregation has left, the church is locked and disinfected. As per the compulsory contact tracing names and contact details will be taken on arrival. FATIMA DAYS: 13th of the Month Fatima Day is a special feature of our Shrine, for more than 30 years pilgrims gather to celebrate and commemorate the Apparitions of Our Lady at Fatima in 1917. The time of pandemic has dramatically changed the life of the Shrine, so with pain and a heavy heart, after extensive pastoral, legal and civil consultations, the decision has been made to keep the Shrine closed on Fatima Days (EVEN WHEN IT FALLS ON SUNDAY), until further notice (i.e. the church, chapels and all the grounds.) Knowing how popular our Fatima Days are, we would never be able to adhere to the directive of the Public Health Order and the Diocesan guidelines in regard to limits and social distancing (the maximum allowed in our church at this time is 100). Because our pilgrims come from many places, some travelling even from interstate, we do not wish to disappoint those who would not be allowed to enter once the limit is reached. Please pray for an end to the pandemic and for our Shrine, so that we can fully open for you soon. We will live stream the Mass at 11am through our Facebook page Shrine of Our Lady of Mercy-Penrose Park.
