23.01.2022 Thanks to the Hassett family for their sponsorship/support again on Boxing Day via the Pat Hassett Memorial Maiden Plate over 1476m. Pat, initially from Caramut, was well known in racing and football circles in the South West over his life time. Country Racing Victoria

23.01.2022 Thanks to the Kelly family of Penshurst for their continued sponsorship of the Kelly Memorial BM52 Hcp over 1476m. William, Nolan and Des Kelly all held official positions with our Club. Current Secretary/Treasurer, Brendan, is a 4th generation of official family involvement. Country Racing Victoria

22.01.2022 We’re on the board in Oz for OTI Racing and Matty Dunn Racing ....... and won like a $1.50 chance should! #Grafton #onwardsandupwards

22.01.2022 Thanks to a new sponsor this year, a business who supplied all of the pine posts to go with our recycled rail for our new outside fence/rail out of the 1000m chute around into the home straight, Portland Pine Industries. The outside fence/rail looks terrific and is another capital improvement ticked off at the course in recent years. Thanks to Portland Pine Industries for the support of our Club. 22.01.2022 Contrary to our previous posts and what we had been advised, it would appear that our races are all being telecast on Sky1 (C526 on Foxtel) today, not only Sky2 (C527) as per the Foxtel information on that channel and today’s Herald Sun. The Herald Sun also suggests we are on racing/com via C68/78 free to air and C529 via Foxtel, but the Foxtel information on that channel doesn’t show Penshurst, so time will tell.

21.01.2022 As we continue to celebrate the achievements of our apprentices this season we couldn’t go past this day in October where Laura Lafferty not only scored her mai...den win but also her first treble at Racing Wodonga. Laura’s great form didn’t stop there going on to secure another treble two months later at Penshurst & District Racing Club Inc.. The RMBL Investments #RisingStars Series comes to a conclusion this Saturday at Flemington Racecourse and Victoria Racing Club. Make sure to tune in!

20.01.2022 It’s a cracking day in the west and we’re all set for a great day of #grassroots #CountryRacing! #GetExcited #GetBackOnTrack

18.01.2022 There’s plenty of form, comments and selections around for our races today, which we’ve now been advised will be shown on Sky Racing 1 (C526) and they will also be broadcast on RSN Racing & Sport 927am (and 1314AM). Please note the change to Sky1 has meant a slight change in our start times to those publicised a few days ago and some guides may not have updated. The start times shown in today’s Herald Sun form guide are correct. We’ve also attached some of the comments and se...lections around to help you through the day. Let us know your best bets in the comments below. #GambleResponsibly Country Racing Victoria bet365

17.01.2022 Penshurst races, 2019. The perfect weather, very good crowd, stunning track, a young local jockey on the Cup winner.... just a perfect day all round for yesterd...ay's races. Congratulations, as always, to the hardworking committee on a job well done. Happy retirement to dedicated steward Leo Dwyer. See more

16.01.2022 The clean up and pack up was completed today and after a successful Boxing Day race meeting yesterday, we’ll take a break now. We’ve had a number of major projects ticked off in recent years including our horse stalls upgrade, irrigation system upgrade, plastic running rail installed and our ladies jockeys room expansion and upgrade (and wasn’t that timely for yesterday ). A lot of this has involved industry funding or been industry funded (plastic running rail), but quite a... bit has been at our own cost or at a minimum involved a Club financial contribution and has all certainly involved significant voluntary labour by our Committee and volunteer helpers. This year we hope to be able to remove the old pine trees along the back straight and over time replace them with something more friendly. The existing pines drain the moisture out of the outside of the back straight and are also starting to become a little unsafe, so as much as we hate to lose them, we think they need to go. As we’ve done for a number of years now the course will be available for gallops if track conditions suit during April/May to October and we will look to host jumpouts again in late September and/or early October. We’d also again like to wish Leo Dwyer a happy retirement and thank him for his years of dedicated service as a Clerk of the Course at Penshurst. Finally, if anybody wants to get involved on our Committee, or just help out with some volunteering around the course with maintenance etc. please let us know. We couldn’t have run yesterday’s meeting without all the voluntary help we had in addition to our Committee, so thanks to everybody who helped. Following is a range of photos from yesterday and today’s clean up. Cheers #grassroots #CountryRacing

05.01.2022 We had an early Autumn working bee this morning to commence work to complete repairs on the horse stalls roof, after some recent storm damage, and a second round of track potting post Boxing Day ‘19. While things are dry at the moment, we’ll be aiming to have the course available again during late Autumn / Winter, as we did last year for gallops, and then jumpouts/gallops in Spring. A little rain will certainly help, but you’d be surprised how quickly the course will boun...ce back! We’ve also got some further capital works in the pipeline during 2020 which will make a significant difference around the course. The morning was rounded out sorting and hanging photos - one was very interesting, and the usual bbq lunch. #spotthedifference #photo #CountryRacing

04.01.2022 Congratulations to owner/trainer Geoff Withers, his fellow connections and jockey Laura Lafferty on the win of Unrealistic in our Cup yesterday. This was the 3rd Country Cup win for Unrealistic and also continued a long family involvement with the Penshurst Cup for the Lafferty family, with Laura’s father Peter having previously won the Penshurst Cup on one occasion and Laura’s grandfather Kevin five times, as trainers. Geoff had visited and inspected the track himself on a ...number of occasions in the lead up to the race, was happy with what he saw and reaped the rewards yesterday. His praise of the track and the work done by our Club in the hot weather leading up to the race, during his acceptance speech, was very much appreciated. Laura rode Unrealistic a treat and sealed a comfortable 3 3/4 length victory to claim her first Penshurst Cup win and trophy. Country Racing Victoria Dan Tehan MP

02.01.2022 Penshurst goes around again in the last race at Grafton today for OTI Racing and Matthew Dunn Racing. On to a soft track today after recording his first win in Australia racing on a Heavy 8 at Grafton last start, we’d love to see him go on with it now and string back to back wins together this afternoon. How good would it be to see him run in the bet365 Penshurst Cup over 2000m on Boxing Day? Country Racing Victoria #CountryRacing
