25.01.2022 There’s a common misconception that you can’t see a physio when you’re not in pain. But that’s 100% false. Seeing a physio should be just like seeing a GP, where you have annual or regular check-ups. This maintenance is key, especially if you’re an athlete. Not only is it important for injury prevention but it will help enhance your performance. Come on in for a check-up where we’ll take you through some physical tests and assess you based on your individual needs.

23.01.2022 New Episode 014 is out! Raw and unedited (practically)

21.01.2022 had to be done. reference to: https://journals.lww.com//RE__Mesocycle_Progression_in_Hyp researchers cop a lot of crap. but they trying to help and it's usually a self correcting system where the community is the biggest critique.... so why don't we stop the bickering like a entitled chump and all sit down, have a cuppa and be more like these chads who have actual in the trenches experience plus are so well versed in their area of research so they actually can conduct discussions and ideas like philosophers. #hypertrophy #physiotherapy #research #strengthandconditioning #chad #actualcivildiscussion #stopbitchinglikeabitch

19.01.2022 Neck strength MAY have a role in preventing or reducing the severity of concussions. If you have a thicker neck or a stronger neck than you theoretically can withstand more forces and not allow the head to wobble as much. That being said here are some basic exercises for improving the static force of the neck. If you are in pain, common sense says be smart.... The literature interestingly at the moment is a bit divided so we don't have any strong conclusions. Which is fair, considering if you get blindsided then you can't anticipate and brace in time. Worth a shot though, just don't spend 30 mins of your time doing it! #neckexercises #physicaltherapy #physiotherapy #exercisetherapy #concussion #thickneck #thiccneck #notraps #cervicalspine #strongerisbetter #itsnotallaboutstrengthbutsomeofitcouldbe #dontforgetreactiontimeandanticpation #readthegame

19.01.2022 Laurence got antsy again and started to answer more questions from all 2 listeners! Check it out!

18.01.2022 Yeah it totally sucks at the moment. Businesses and employees alike are all suffering at this stage. But perhaps it's a good time to reflect on how fortunate you may be to have a roof over your head and food to eat, and maybe even some toilet paper as a luxury. We won't be open until Tuesday. So take a break, and have a peaceful Easter!... #physiotherapy #easter #coronavirus #covid #economy #keepongoing #rehab #sleepinsaregreat #whyistoiletpaperstillout

16.01.2022 Teamwork makes the dream work. Our team is a tight nit group always working together and sharing insights to improve our services.

15.01.2022 Time is a commodity . In the context of body and healing, we are all different. We live in an ever growing society where short term reward is more valued as opposed to long term reward. Understand that our bodies need time to adapt and heal. . Rehabilitation is the same, there are no short cuts with exercises, small increments of progression are far better than feeling good for 2 days and having that same pain come back.... . Time is a commodity, use your time wisely. It’s much more rewarding utilising our time and observing the fruits of your labour. See more

13.01.2022 So, during this period of extra time we started a small podcast. Please beware it's quite raw so there are lots of naughty words! Hence why it's DIRECT. Episode 1 was about scarring and the rough physiology of it, including keloid and hypertrophic scars.... Episode 2 talked a bit about overtraining and how it's an actual condition and is confused perhaps with overreaching. Link: https://anchor.fm/penshurst-street-physiotherapy We are here to answer questions to the best of our abilities. No BS. Any qs fire away!

11.01.2022 Finger hand and wrist strength is totally underrated! Those old school martial arts techniques may be of some use for light finger rehab. Check out the video for some ideas!... #physicaltherapy #physiotherapy #handexercise #penshurst #stgeorge #illcrushyoulikeapapercup #grip #martialarts #training

10.01.2022 Laurence has been answering questions on our little podcast - We talk about stretching in episode 6 - how long, how often, what to stretch, is it even neccessary? In episode 7 we talk about manipulation or adjustments, and muscle activation. This comic by @explosmofficial is great. ... We also talk about how cardio could affect strength but also the great benefits of doing it. We hope that everyone is still careful even if the COVID-19 measures are relaxing a little bit in NSW. If you have any questions for the podcast feel free to contact us!

09.01.2022 Did you know that we offer remedial massage therapy? Our practitioners will strive to find the cause of your discomfort and use a series of manual manipulations to relieve any pain or aches.

02.01.2022 "Pain is a multifactorial experience" - Steve Pain is modulated by a lot of different factors, such as fitness level, strength, previous injuries. For example, sleep deprivation or stress can elevate your perception of pain, so something that might be an otherwise minor twitch is perceived as pain because you are tired or run down. All these factors need to be addressed when assessing and dealing with pain management. Ignore them and you may not get the best results. ... To help you understand, let’s take a bucket that we are filling with water. You put a bit of water in the bucket (stress), more water (injury), another bit of water (unhealthy lifestyle) until it overflows. It’s about getting to the core not just the external or 'superficial' pain. Comment below any questions you have or what factors you think are causing you pain?

02.01.2022 Our therapists care about YOUR wellbeing. We understand that your pain and issues are important to you in your OWN way. If you are open, we are here to lend a helping hand and guide you from start to finish and beyond!
