15.01.2022 Nick Jonas and Priyanka Chopra’s wedding was certainly one of the most iconic events in 2018- the Hollywood couple tied the knot over a multi-day celebration from November 30th to December 2nd. Being from different cultural backgrounds, they decided to have a ceremony for each of their side of the family; both of which came with amazing traditional events and outfits. Today, our team at Peony House would like to give you a more in-depth look on Priyanka’s custom Western wedd...ing dress, designed by the one and only: Ralph Lauren. Lauren reportedly met with Priyanka Chopra- who was his guest at the Met Gala in 2017- to show the sketches of the dress he’d imagine creating for her. What made this extraordinary is that prior to this, the designer had made dresses only for a very few number of his family members. The infamous dress is reported to have taken 1826 hours to create, with features as reported in the People magazine: hand-beaded and hand-embroidered dress featuring floral and scroll motifs, lace-effect tulle appliqués, scalloped sleeves and a high-neck collar. Underneath the embroidered outer layer, the column dress consisted of 2,380,000 mother of pearl sequins. Priyanka’s veil was a simple, raw-edged tulle net that stretched 75 ft (roughly 23 meters) long. It required 6 people to handle and place it perfectly for her ceremony. After the wedding, Lauren revealed that Priyanka had asked for 8 special words and phrases to be incorporated into the outer layer of the dress: hope, compassion, family, love; along with the groom’s full name, her parents’ names, the date of the ceremony and the Hindu mantra om namaha shiva. People magazine also mentioned that a piece of Priyanka’s mother-in-law’s wedding dress was also sewn into the look.
