25.01.2022 Future women: one half of @bettercup_au Christie in the June knit by Australian designer Alexandra King (only one left online!) Christie and Sam are the founders of @bettercup_au, providing reusable solutions for events to combat single-use plastic. When talking responsible style, Sam and Christie shared they consider cost per wear: responsibly made pieces can be expensive but consider what youre purchasing and break down the cost. If youll wear it multiple times and it ...will keep for years to come, you will get your moneys worth while supporting better practices. More to come from Sam and Christie this weekend on our Edit. #stylemaderight Photo by Damien Pleming
23.01.2022 Made by hand. Investment pieces for the conscious woman by Australian artist Billy Clare Reitzenstein. The Spirits ring is made in solid yellow gold to avoid using chemicals during the plating process, and will not tarnish or fade. Available in 9K, 18K and 22K solid yellow gold. #stylemaderight
23.01.2022 Two in one: the detachable belt pocket from the Silk and Cotton wrap jacket, doubling as a bag. As seen on @hannah_sam, captured by @melissacowanphotography #stylemaderight
22.01.2022 Pamela Card is the woman behind her namesake jewellery label. She is the person that designs each piece, with a vision to create modern day relics inspired by stories of the past. Using the ancient technique of lost wax, each piece is hand sculpted by Pamela in Vancouver, using solid sterling silver and dipped in 24k gold. As you ask #WhoMadeMyClothes this week, its important to remember that unethical practices dont just happen in the textile industry; accessories are impacted too. Pictured is the Wilhelmina necklace, an engraved pendant inspired by Queen Wilhelmina of Netherlands #stylemaderight
22.01.2022 When we shot Tamika, we wanted to showcase beauty in diversity. As the founder behind Peoples Collective, Ive been reflecting on the sustainable fashion industry in Australia and it has occurred to me that I have rarely seen a woman of colour/culturally diverse that are leaders in sustainable style, featured on a panel or highlighted as part of stories. There are some brilliant women doing great things however were regularly seeing the same faces. While I love hearing fro...m these pioneers, variation and diversity is important as we hear and learn from different perspectives. Its something wed like to focus on as we grow. Are you a woman of colour or culturally diverse working in the sustainable/responsible fashion industry in Australia? You may be a designer, writer, journalist, influencer, stylist or other. If so, wed love to hear from you for a little something were working on. #stylemaderight See more
22.01.2022 Wearable art. The Pompeii ring is mindfully made by hand in Australia using solid yellow gold so it will not tarnish or fade. When considering your next purchase, think about supporting independent artists and designers such as Billy Clare Reitzenstein, the artist behind Arca jewellery, so that they can continue to create responsible and unique pieces. Its good to see larger brands taking note of sustainable and ethical style with select collections, but how about supporting those who do not compromise and have always created responsible style? #stylemaderight
21.01.2022 Made to order, locally. The Sorghum skirt is now available online. By Australian label Ricepaper, the label recently extended their sustainable footprint by introducing made to order and locally made styles with their current collection. This skirt is made to order in Melbourne: it only gets made when you buy it to avoid wasting resources. On that note, a recent post by @slowfashionfestival had us thinking, what is important to you when choosing whether or not you buy something? Style, values or price point? Maybe all or none? Does made to order work for you? No judgement zone here, just keen to hear and learn about whats important to you an why #stylemaderight
21.01.2022 Yes, sustainable style can be expensive but there's a reason: people along the supply chain are being paid a fair wage & working under safe conditions. Olearia is the maker of this coat and another independent Australian label we support. Ellen and Laura are the designers. All styles are made-to-order by a small, family owned manufacturer in Melbourne, so only what you buy gets made. The retail price of the coat isn't 'pulled out of thin air', but instead calculated on what i...t costs to make. Swipe through to see what it costs to make this coat This doesn't include costs related to running a business, so the difference goes towards this, as well as supporting Laura and Ellen to continue to create. Yes, the price of this coat isn't accessible to all however there are lots of ways you can support sustainable and/or ethical style on a budget, with clothes swaps, buying pre-loved clothes and renting. #WhoMadeMyClothes See more

18.01.2022 This week reminds me why I do what I do. To support designers that are creating responsibly. I'm Viv, the founder behind People's Collective which I run as a side project as I believe fashion's supply chain should be just as 'beautiful' as the final product. Pictured are Ellen and Laura designers of Olearia, a Melbourne-based label that create beautiful garments, ethically and responsibly. They, like the many other designers curated on the site, are transparent about their m...anufacturing process. This week is Fashion Revolution Week. Now in its 6th year, it commemorates the collapse of the Rana Plaza factory and rise of a fashion revolution. The factory was where many well known brands made their clothing. It was cheap labour where thousands worked under unsafe conditions. In 2013, the building collapsed killing 1,138 people and injuring thousands more who still live with permanent injuries today. Buying fast fashion continues to support this cycle as brands look to cheap labour to keep costs down for the buyer, which comes at a price; the life or wellbeing of another person. This week is an opportunity to rethink your next purchase. Rethink its make, its durability and its cost by asking the label #whomademyclothes See more
18.01.2022 Design with intent. When we know you love a style, we send a few off to be handmade in small batch. The popular Aphrodite necklace is now back in stock but we only have a handful available, so be sure to secure yours if youve been thinking about adding this timeless style to your collection. If you miss out this time, we also offer made to order - it just means youll need to wait a few weeks for it to make its way to you. Designing with intent is always our priority to avoid waste. #stylemaderight
18.01.2022 The opposite side of the Medina necklace has its own look, giving you the choice to wear two different styles in one. Handcrafted by Pamela Card herself using the ancient technique of lost wax, each piece is unique and never truly identical. Choose #stylemaderight while supporting independent designers.

17.01.2022 This designer wants you to look beyond sustainable fashion. . From my experience, there seems to be a prominent number of women in creative leadership roles in fashion in Australia, however culturally diverse women are a major and visibly apparent gap. . We have work to do.... . In Australia, the sustainable fashion landscape is growing yet not always representative of its diverse community. . In the first of its series, hear from REMUSE designer Tamara Leacock and her experience, as we explore our State of Diversity in sustainable style. Link in bio. #stateofdiversity See more

11.01.2022 We (humans) have been conditioned to gain fulfilment through immediate gratification. The rise of the fast fashion industry has really made an impact on that behaviour and subsequently how we buy and interact with clothing. Its exciting and challenging to attempt to reverse the actions that societal pressures have ingrained in us, shares Ellen, one half of Melbourne made label Olearia. Designers Ellen and Laura of Olearia chat about their made to order model and the move towards more conscious consumerism. Link in bio. Is waiting for made to order styles the future or a hindrance? #stylemaderight
10.01.2022 Responsible style also includes buying items that will last beyond one season which is why we love Western Australia based designer Alexandra King. 09.01.2022 Culture plays a big part in the design of clothing... This is why we need cultural diversity in sustainable fashion. We can further expand the diversity of designs to meet the needs of varying communities and cultures. In honour of #internationalwomensday, yesterday we spoke with creative @tiffanyduliege, shining a diversity lens on women working within sustainable fashion in Australia. ... Our Edit is an opportunity for us to explore the fashion landscape in the sustainable/responsible fashion industry, as this is one Ive been thinking about for some time. Its been great to see the shift taking place which weve seen at this years VAMFF however there is still work to be done, as were still hearing from the same voices. Full story live on Peoples Edit. 09.01.2022 Great designs are timeless which is why we love Australian label Olearia. Their first collection included key pieces with a focus on great cuts and deadstock fabric. Now onto their second collection, their original designs are still relevant a year on, and will remain so for many more years to come. Focusing on made-to-order, we love that were able to offer you key pieces from the original collection like this silk and cotton skirt drawstring skirt which is a key piece to transition through the seasons (and swoon worthy!). Gemma is 174cm and is wearing the size 10. #stylemaderight

03.01.2022 What happens when you support designers on a journey to responsible fashion. When we first met Ricepaper designer Eve, we asked about natural fibres and locally made designs. As an independent, self-funded designer, Eve was on a journey to sustainable style, and had started with responsibly made, employing a Bali-based manufacturer with fair and safe working conditions. We chose select designs to support Eve on her journey. Today, Eve has been able to grow and her current co...llection features Melbourne made, made to order and natural fibres, and she continues to support the Bali-based manufacturer with select pieces. Unveiled at #VAMFF IDENTITY runway, we have select pieces now live on the site, open for pre-order. Well be unveiling the full collection throughout the week.
