24.01.2022 Home Meal Program The Covid-19 season has brought about challenging scenarios for many, but its also been a great opportunity to work together to support the most vulnerable members of our community. In March, we applied for federal government funding to support our isolated clients with the provision of three two-course meals, delivered to their door. This gave our team the opportunity to care from a safe distance and make sure our clients were doing okay during lock...down. We partnered with Beth and her team from Emporess Catering to provide 600 nourishing meals a week! In addition to supporting our clients with good nutrition and social connection, this partnership allowed @Emporess Catering and multiple other small businesses to continue trading, despite all their catering events being cancelled during the lockdown. Thank you Beth and your team - we greatly appreciated working with you to look after our elderly clients.

22.01.2022 Hear From One of Our Clients Mick is one of our clients in our Disability Services Area and very valued by the staff at People Who Care. Mick is a charmer who buys the office staff the best cheesecake. 20.01.2022 Support for Families Starting Over In December last year, our friends at Bunnings Warehouse Australia visited and supported us with racking, blinds, buckets of love, and generously donated their time to install everything. That was an incredible donation of goods, product and hours of time from their amazing team. We were delighted when they contacted us recently to give us some more great news. ... The traditional ways that Bunnings Warehouse Australia supports local community groups and charities have changed due to COVID-19, so their team got creative to support local communities in a different way. Their teams across Australia and New Zealand shared on their internal social media network the acts of kindness theyd witnessed during the recent challenging times, for each other and the wider community. They selected special acts of kindness from their teams, which inspired them and displayed their Bunnings values. A total of 60 not for profits and community groups were nominated and will each receive a donation of $5000 to support their important work. We were thrilled that Starting Over Support SOS was nominated by the team at Bunnings Bayswater! Thank you so much Bunnings Warehouse Australia this donation will go a long way to helping Perth families start over in new homes. We are over the moon!

09.01.2022 PERSON CENTRED SUPPORT FOR PEOPLE LIVING WITH DEMENTIA 1700 people are diagnosed with dementia each week in Australia and most of these people will want to stay in their home and continue to experience wellbeing and independence. We support people to enjoy the life they have made, in their home. ... So it is hugely important to us to not define people by the assumptions and stigmas we have come to believe of people living with dementia. We are truly proud to have entered into an important relationship this week with Alzheimer's WA This partnership will focus on our understanding and training as a staff team, but more importantly to embed a culture of person-centred support of our clients living with dementia and their carers. Olwyn has mainly focused on administration roles at PWC, giving around 6 hours of her time per week and also volunteered in the City Op Shop. 04.01.2022 MEET OUR TEAM Hi, Im Dixie I joined Starting Over Support SOS as a volunteer after hearing about the program from fellow colleagues from my other volunteering role with Soroptimist International Maylands Peninsula.... At the time I felt the program sounded so worthwhile. I have volunteered now for over two years and can certainly testify thats the case. Its a wonderful thing to not just want to be able to help and support those in need, but to be a part of this organization where this happens every day. I have two roles at SOS; Administration where I speak to members of the wider community who call to offer donations of household goods and furniture, and I also help with the many family referrals, selecting and packing all the items that each family or individual may need. Our hope every day is that we make a difference in their lives no matter how small. We all love it so much when we get to pack extra things for the children. We dont get to see these folks of course, but we often sit and think just how excited the littles ones will be when they open their packages or their backpacks that are full of fun things they may not be expecting. These past months, I have also volunteered on the Touchpoint team. Thats been such a wonderful support program for so many isolated folks. Its also been so very humbling to be able to check on them, just have a chat and make them feel they are not alone. Thank you Dixie, we appreciate all you do and the ways you show care. @ Guildford, Western Australia
