25.01.2022 Mathematics of Vibration..... To understand vibration is to understand the soul

15.01.2022 Musicians have two main sources of income live concerts and recording. Concerts are shut down indefinitely due to the pandemic and the record business has been... decimated by the streaming companies. The music industry is dead in the water the top artists in the business are out of work. Musicians expect to get screwed by record companies It’s a time honoured tradition in show biz but this is something new. Spotify and the other streaming companies are colluding with the record labels to buy up their bulk catalogue CD sales have dwindled and catalogue is the only asset the labels have left. Together the streaming giants and the big record companies are making billions in streaming revenues while cutting the artists out of the loop and paying them next to nothing. The copyright laws that have always protected composers seem to be hopelessly outmoded in the face of this new technology. The old laws are based on physical sales and music today is out there on the cloud . This has opened the door for unscrupulous operators who realize that the law hasn’t kept pace with the technology and they are exploiting this loophole for as long as they can get away with it.. It is one of the largest thefts of intellectual property in history. Legislation is desperately needed to compel streaming platforms and record companies to pay a fair royalty rate to the creators of their content. Royalty rates for composers have long been established for films, commercials, TV and radio etc BMI, ASCAP, SOCAN all have long standing agreements governing the equitable sharing of the proceeds from an artists work. The template is there it should include streaming. This isn't just about a few starving artists it's about the survival of a multi-billion dollar industry It’s the agents, the promoters. the stagehands, the electricians, the fans and the thousands of support workers who depend on the music business for their livelihood. The loss is far more profound than its economic impact we are losing a piece of our humanity. A safe harbour in a troubled world. A sanctuary in dangerous times. Peace of mind in the midst of chaos. The ability to to think, to visualize, to imagine to dream. The very idea of a world without music is unthinkable but we are perilously close to that reality. See more
