15.01.2022 Extending on our interest in farm animals today and incorporating sensory play with a farm animal matching game!

15.01.2022 Light panels provide a multitude of learning opportunities for children of all ages. This week, we have used one to continue our exploration of colours and shapes! We filled large freezer bags with water beads and in one bag of beads were large buttons to explore, all different shapes and colours. In the other bag were some larger and our more common shapes to explore, star, square, heart, triangle, rectangle and circle. Our babies and toddlers loved pressing the water beads around in the bags to find different shapes. We also appreciated how beautiful the colours were of the water beads when the light was shining through them and illuminating their colours.

14.01.2022 Its beginning to smell a lot like Christmas! Some beautiful peppermint scented play dough ready to mix our Christmas glitter colours in!

14.01.2022 A very cool sensory and scientific learning experience for our toddlers yesterday! We set up an invitation to play with ice spheres containing various items from our collage box. Along with these was a tub of water, jugs, cups, funnels and large spoons. Firstly our toddlers enjoyed just touching the ice, feeling the texture and the cold feeling of it. Then they began picking it up, pouring water over them, scooping them and transferring them from tub to tub, all the while observing the spheres getting smaller and smaller and releasing the items inside. Soon we were left with glittery water along with pom poms, beads and feathers. * Please note, as there are small craft items used in this experience, a very high level of supervision is and was required during this activity.

14.01.2022 We are exploring farm animals this week, and what better way to do it than mixing our exploration with some sensory rice play! Today in our rice, our babies found a horse, sheep, a pig and two cows. Playing with rice is a great sensory experience. Its both visual as they learn colors, it makes a sound like rain drops when we pick up handfuls and let it fall back down into the tray. It also stimulates our sense of touch, it feels cool and soothing on our skin as we run our hands through it, providing a very relaxing experience.

Colour identification will come in the next couple of years, but for now, its all about exposure in a fun and engaging way that activates their natural curiosity and stimulates their senses

07.01.2022 Continuing on with our Spring celebrations getting creative with nature! Today we transformed some old flowers from a vase into natural paint brushes. Paired up with some beautiful Spring pastels, they created beautiful prints!

07.01.2022 Shapes are all around us, they make up the world that we live in. Our babies and toddlers went on a quest to discover shapes yesterday through some silky smooth sensory fun with baby safe cloud dough. Cloud dough can be silky smooth in texture, or hard if compressed and moulded into shapes. We hid some shapes in our cloud dough for our babies to discover through their play. The babies loved digging their little hands through the dough to retrieve and study their shapes. Our toddlers took their learning to the next level and pressed their shapes into the cloud dough to leave imprints and also compressed handfuls of dough in their hands to form little balls and other shapes! Our play with cloud dough gave us the opportunity to learn new words to describe how the dough looked and felt.

They also loved creating fun and mess, pulling handful after handful of shredded paper out of the box! Please note: All baby sensory experiences are implemented under full supervision.
