22.01.2022 The Team at Peregian Springs Sports Injury & Physiotherapy Centre are no strangers to fitness, endurance and hard work. Brigitte scheduled a day off from massage and administration duties this month to walk with her good friend and clinic patient Michelle. The duo commenced their three day trek from Noosaville to Mooloolaba. The first day was the longest along the Noosa river, through the Noosa National Park to Coolum - 31 km's. They were fairly lucky with the weather... and stayed relatively dry until Peregian. The last 4 km's of that stretch was on the beach in pouring rain and very strong head-winds. It was a tough end to a long day!! Second day was from Coolum to Twin waters about 19 km's with rain for most of the way, at times torrential and the last day only 15 km's into Mooloolaba in sunshine!! The girls celebrated their achievement by having a fresh seafood picnic lunch with their husbands at Mooloolaba wharf Well done to both Brigitte & Michelle for this awesome effort.

12.01.2022 Vertigo (Dizziness) Vertigo is a common complaint amongst the general community. It can originate from a number of different sources. The two most common sources that physiotherapists deal with are the inner ear and the cervical spine. The inner ear contains the body's balance mechanism. There are 3 canals orientated in different planes that are filled with fluid. When you move, the fluid within the canals move and stimulates the vestibular nerve, sending messages to yo...ur brain letting you know where you are in space. These canals may become blocked with little particles and they prevent the fluid from moving. The information to your brain is disrupted and your brain tries to compensate making you feel dizzy. This is called Benign Paroxismal Positional Vertigo (BPPV). Trained physiotherapists can easily diagnose BPPV with a simple test. The treatment is a series of head positions to try and move the blocking particles out of the canals to allow the fluid to move freely again. Relief from symptoms occurs immediately to 24 hours
