06.01.2022 We are so proud to announce that today we became the first tour operator in the world with verified science-based targets. This is the most significant step... we’ve taken to combat the climate crisis since becoming carbon neutral in 2010. This commitment will transform our business for a lower-carbon future. What do verified science-based targets mean? The historic Paris Agreement called for global warming to be limited to 1.5C. Science-based targets that reduce greenhouse gas emissions are considered the most effective way to achieve this. Our reduction targets have now been approved by the official Science Based Targets initiative (SBTi) and call for ambitious emission reductions from our trips and offices by 2035. How will emissions be reduced? On our trips, we are changing itineraries to replace internal flights with lower carbon alternatives (like trains) and growing our range of closer-to-home itineraries to over 100 tours that require fewer flights. In our offices, we will transition to 100% renewable energy and electricity in our offices, switch to more digital brochures and improve our waste management. So, what’s next? Although we are proud to be the first, we do not want to be the only tour operator with science-based targets. The climate crisis cannot be handled in isolation - not when tourism accounts for 8% of the world’s carbon emissions. We will use this moment to advocate for climate action to be a critical priority in travel’s post-COVID recovery. Join us as we fight for a future of travel that’s greener and fairer for all. #BeResponsible #BeIntrepid See more

03.01.2022 The 'Trans-Tasman Bubble' looks like it could be getting closer to reality. Our two escorted walking holidays in March are looking good. Join us to experience NZ's spectacularly mountainous South Island on either of these two trips, or join them together to make up the quintessential NZ experience. 01.01.2022 We asked ourselves the question here at Lucky Bay, how close is too close to other beach goers, when you can drive down on to a beach like this? If we did this on a beach in Europe then our neighbours would be less than a towel width away. Here, half a km is too close I reckon!
