24.01.2022 Support for Australian companies has never been more important than now! Do not book your holidays ONLINE with internationally owned companies. The entire glo...be is facing "unprecedented times", this is a war of sorts and Travel Agents are on the front line in the depths of the trenches, fighting a battle that you can not see. YOU HAVE THE CHOICE and ability to provide a bandage to the deep wounds that travel agents are suffering from... help them stop bleeding to death and choose Australian travel agents for your holiday bookings!

24.01.2022 An open letter from James Thornton, CEO of The Intrepid Group, to their customers. An excellent situational report on one travel companies motives in these coronavirus times.

23.01.2022 Day 14 on our Tasmania’s Wild Walks trip and our group members are all going their own ways now. Time for a long breakfast and a wander around the delectable Ho...bart before catching up with friends in Kettering. We had a great trip with good people. Love it when the sum of a trip becomes greater than its parts. See more

23.01.2022 We all agree that the best wine tasting experience that any of us have ever had (and there have been a few!) has been our yearly regular at Pemberley Farm. Hosted by Dave and Monica Radomiljac, home made bread, salami and marron to compliment the wonderful wine. A great afternoon with wonderful friends.

23.01.2022 On this day 391 years ago, the Dutch ship, the Batavia ran aground on Morning Reef on the Abrolhos Islands. And a brutal, tragic tale of human endurance ensued. If you want to explore Western Australia and revel in its remoteness, its history and legends please read our newsletter featuring the Eco-Abrolhos cruises and our new Batavia blog. We recently discovered that two of our regular clients, Peter & Jill Worsley, are recognised experts on the Batavia, and in fact on much of WAs maritime history. For their volunteer marine archaeology work they were awarded OAMs in the Queens Birthday Honours list in 2019. https://bit.ly/3gRaDSr

23.01.2022 A legend in the sport of mountaineering has passed away. Doug Scott was the hardest of the hard men.

19.01.2022 I thought I would let our Peregrine Travel family know that today I was honoured to be appointed a Member of the Order of Australia in recognition of my volunteer work in the outdoor recreation, education and trails community in WA, especially for the Bibbulmun Track. The Bibbulmun Track Foundation announcement is below.

18.01.2022 Some interesting ideas here from some world leading industry experts, including Intrepid's own, James Thornton. Are you a seriously committed adventure traveller? Looking for a unique experience? Or to tick off a bucket list trip you've prevaricated about doing until you couldn't, because of this crisis? Will over-touristed sites lose their attraction? Will you use an expert travel agent to help you find the places less travelled?

17.01.2022 I know 'pivot' is the new buzzword (and I'm always reluctant to use buzzwords) but...... here we are, pivoting! The team and I have started trying to sell domestic product as, of course, international travel is still impossible. And it's great to see our biggest supplier of travel, Intrepid Travels (owners of the Peregrine Adventures brand), have really stepped up to the plate with some excellent domestic product. Good to see clever nimbleness and responsiveness from such a big company! Well done guys, looking forward to selling some of these trips.

06.01.2022 Inspecting the new break in the sandbar at the bottom of the Willyabrup creek on the Cape to Cape trail near Margaret River.

06.01.2022 Weve been seeing these little native Quendas ( also called Southern Bandicoots) in Star Swamp, about 100 hectares at the end end of our street. Not really scared of humans at all. Probably why they became endangered.

01.01.2022 You are never too old for an adventure....!

01.01.2022 We are so proud to announce that today we became the first tour operator in the world with verified science-based targets. This is the most significant step... we’ve taken to combat the climate crisis since becoming carbon neutral in 2010. This commitment will transform our business for a lower-carbon future. What do verified science-based targets mean? The historic Paris Agreement called for global warming to be limited to 1.5C. Science-based targets that reduce greenhouse gas emissions are considered the most effective way to achieve this. Our reduction targets have now been approved by the official Science Based Targets initiative (SBTi) and call for ambitious emission reductions from our trips and offices by 2035. How will emissions be reduced? On our trips, we are changing itineraries to replace internal flights with lower carbon alternatives (like trains) and growing our range of closer-to-home itineraries to over 100 tours that require fewer flights. In our offices, we will transition to 100% renewable energy and electricity in our offices, switch to more digital brochures and improve our waste management. So, what’s next? Although we are proud to be the first, we do not want to be the only tour operator with science-based targets. The climate crisis cannot be handled in isolation - not when tourism accounts for 8% of the world’s carbon emissions. We will use this moment to advocate for climate action to be a critical priority in travel’s post-COVID recovery. Join us as we fight for a future of travel that’s greener and fairer for all. #BeResponsible #BeIntrepid See more
