25.01.2022 Lovely Kai’s mum has been been doing really well with training but just need to work on getting her timing working better and remembering to reinforce calm behaviours with Kai. Great work Liz and Kai

18.01.2022 Many of our wonderful clients will have heard us talking about the "teenage phase" of training at around 8 months old. Managing teenage terrors can be hard work, but understanding that its a phase can help get you through the teenage phase.

17.01.2022 Last Thursday we had fun shaping ringing a bell with our dogs. We sent everyone home with the challenge to teach their dogs a trick to bring to class and share. We're looking forward to seeing some creative tricks tomorrow night!

14.01.2022 A little sneak peek at what we've been working on during restrictions... Like many others, we were disappointed to hear we had a bit more of a wait before we could start up again. We're hoping the numbers will come down in the next few weeks We've been using the time to do some class planning and would love your feedback - what class activities are you missing at the moment?

14.01.2022 Little Bella has had a bit of a barking issue which has a become an unnecessary habit. We caught up to see how she was going after putting training measures into place. I’m so proud of her and the great progress she has made. Great work Bella and her mum and dad

14.01.2022 TERM 4 GROUP CLASSES We're excited to be back for Term 4 group classes, starting the week of the 4th October. Yesterday we sent emails to all our wonderful clients who were with us in term 3 and those on our waiting list - please check your emails (or spam folders) and get in touch asap if you have not received your email yet.... There are a few changes this term due to COVID-19 restrictions.... We have been granted permission from council to use Kingston Park for our group classes until we are able to access the school hall again (we're waiting for the education department to allow community organisations back using schools). This means we are at the mercy of the weather a little more and will have to finish earlier to ensure we have enough sunlight. We are also restricted to a strict maximum of 8 dogs per class. Our class times will be changing slightly to accommodate: Mondays 4:30pm - Beginners 5:30pm - Beginners 6:30pm - Advanced Thursdays 4:30pm - Intermediates 5:30pm - Beginners 6:30pm - Beginners Saturdays 8:30 - Advanced 9:30 - Intermediates 11:00 - Beginners 12:00 - Beginners We are also running a number of Out & About classes during the week - if you would prefer to learn in a smaller group in "real world" scenarios, please get in touch about booking one of these! We would like to thank you for your patience as we get organised again for the new term! We're definitely feeling the love and trying to get back to people as quickly as possible, but please bear with us if we aren't able to respond immediately. Many thanks for your continued support! The Pawtastic Paws team

13.01.2022 Willow and her mum have been working hard since our last catch up and it showed!! Willow is still learning to how to appropriately approach other dogs.... But instead of freaking out and feeling like she had to be on guard and anxious, this time she had learned to change her association and was excited about the other dog instead of being afraid. Djindi came along to help and it was the first time Willow had met Djindi and she did so well. Gold star for Willow .

13.01.2022 Djindi came to help yesterday with our follow up with Nelson in the park. Nelson is practicing his recall and loose leash walking. He gets very excited about seeing other dogs and has been working on focusing on returning to mum when he sees exciting new distractions. Great work Nelson

13.01.2022 I am SO PROUD of Stitch! Djindi and I just caught up with Stitch for socialisation session today. It was his first time meeting Djindi as we has previously worked with Illy. He did so well and has made so much progress since I first met him thanks to the hard work and dedication of his lovely mum and dad. Great work team!!!

11.01.2022 Great work from our beginners on Monday night

11.01.2022 Well done regional Victoria on getting to step 3! We're excited to be able to start offering more services again with these latest announcements - Please give us a few days to clarify what restrictions are still in place and to set our wheels back in motion Thank you all so much for your patience and support in what has been a tough year. We're hoping to go onwards and upwards from here

09.01.2022 Little Chewy was struggling to focus on loose lead walking on our windy catch up at the park. So we had to adapt and use the stage area so that the distraction was reduced. By stepping off the grass and into a slightly more sheltered space we got Chewy walking beautifully and his mum feeling much more confident. If what your doing isn’t working you need to adapt and take a step back. Have a look at the environment and see what you can change to help your dog focus. Well done Chewy and Amanda

09.01.2022 Little Lola is a bit nervous around new dogs and people and is learning that she can trust her Dad to help her get the space she needs as she slowly gains confidence. You don’t always have to balance out bad experiences with good experiences. It’s actually a lot better for a nervous dog to have neutral experiences where they don’t have to meet the other dog or person at all, as they don’t really want to. They just want to learn that nothing bad is going to to happen and they can walk past without having to interact at all. That doesn’t mean they can’t meet any dogs but just like us humans, you don’t have to be friends or talk to everyone you walk past on the street. She did really well today

05.01.2022 INDIVIDUAL CONSULTS We have received clarification from Business Victoria that we are still unable to provide our consults within residential spaces (including working in outdoor areas such as back yards). An update will be provided by the Victorian Government on this on 28th September. We are able to provide consults in public spaces such as parks, however we're aware this may not suit everyone depending on the specific issues we are working on. ... We will be contacting our wonderful clients currently on our wait list that may be able to do the consults in a public space. For those requiring in-home consults, we'll be tentatively booking for after 28th September. Thanks for your patience! Kate & Sophie

04.01.2022 UPDATE ON GROUP CLASSES Thank you for your patience regarding group classes. We are hoping to be back for Term 4 classes starting the week of the 4th October. However, we still have a few logistical details to work through with COVID restrictions.... This includes whether we can have access to the school facilities and whether we will be able to run 7:15pm classes or if we have to be outdoors which means we need sunlight. We are hoping to have more answers for you next week. We will be starting up Out & About classes again in the next couple of weeks so if you are itching to get back into training before Term 4 is confirmed, please get in touch. Cheers, Kate & Sophie

02.01.2022 Great evening with our more advanced group in Ocean Grove. We get to train in different locations with our more advanced dogs because of the hard work they have put in and high standard they have achieved. We can start applying what they have learned into different situations and different locations

01.01.2022 Djindi came to help Rosie with some recall training. Rosie is very friendly but gets distracted by other dogs on the other side of the park. Even though Rosie’s intentions are good, it’s overwhelming for other dogs and owners to have an excited German Shepherd approaching at speed so we need to get this behaviour under control. Earlier in the year we me Rosie and worked with her when she was having trouble getting over stimulated by the cat in her new home. After a lot of pat...ience from her owners and practice Rosie and the cat became great friends. Scroll along to the 3rd picture to see Rosie and the cat after our sessions. Now we look forward to getting Rosie on the right track with her recall under distraction. #dogtraininggeelong #dogtrainingoceangrove #dogtrainingpointlonsdale #dogtrainingclasses #individualdogtraining #dogbehaviour #dogbehaviourconsulting #thefamilydogtrainer #recall #obediencetraining #canineenrichment #geelongdogtraining #geelongdogtrainer #impulsecontrol #bellarinedogs #dogtrainingaustralia #dogsocialisation #nilf #giveyourdogajob #nothinginlifeisfree #dogsandcats @pawtasticpawsbellarine See more
