04.01.2022 In this new world of social distancing, Social Awareness may just be the thing that helps us survive. In times of stress, pressure and change, our behavioural preferences are highlighted most significantly. If you go quiet during these times it will be happening, if you get more aggressive during these times it will be happening. Over the weekend I recognised that my tolerance of my family was at an all-time low.... My wife and oldest girl were quieter than usual and my youngest daughters need for chatting and interaction was in overdrive. Me, I was just grumpy, frustrated and just wanted to be left alone so I could think and strategise. What I realised is that it was time for me to up my performance in social awareness and adaptability. It was time to apply my craft, live by what I believe and get back above the line. It was time for me to adapt my behaviour for the good of the most important team in my life. My Family! It was time to ensure that those I love are supported to get through this in the best way they can. Luckily, I have recognised that the emotions and behaviours I am displaying are my natural preferences, however, I cannot use this as an excuse for being a boofhead and I must respond to keep my family connected, safe and hopeful.
