20.01.2022 We've got some exciting news! Jessie Lloyd's fabulous work 'Mission Songs Project: The Songs Back Home' is very soon to premiere on ABC iView reimagined as a 10 episode digital series. The series premieres 9 November as part of NAIDOC week, and explores an extremely significant but largely overlooked dimension to Australian music history, the songs that were written and adapted by the Aboriginal folks and Torres Strait Islanders who lived in Missions. ... Each episode revolves around a single mission song, featuring interviews with Jessie and breakdowns of the research and context behind the song, as well as a performance from Jessie and a host of other talented First Nations musicians. 07.01.2022 We here at Performing Lines are delighted to be involved with this new opportunity for Deaf and disabled Victoria-based artists! In partnership with Metro Tunnel Creative Program, Arts Centre Melbourne are inviting Deaf and disabled artists, and collaborating allies, to create a site-responsive participatory work incorporating themes of movement, repetition and time, which activates non-traditional public spaces in their precinct. The creative development is to be led by Performing Lines and commences in 2020. 07.01.2022 PRODUCER LAB | EOIs are now open for Performing Lines WA's Producer Lab, a rare opportunity for 12 emerging, independent producers or self-producing artists in Western Australia, both metro and regionally based, to learn the nuts and bolts of producing. Delivered online over 5 weeks, the Lab will allow participants to work on their own project idea, applying templates and learnings shared by Performing Lines, with support from CircuitWest, The Blue Room Theatre and Yirra Yaakin Theatre Company. 05.01.2022 FREE WORKSHOP | Shout out to Gold Coast dancers and performers - Award-winning choreographer Liesel Zink and her collaborators are currently undertaking creative development for a new performance project Us and All of This at Home of the Arts. This project gathers 100 dancers of diverse ages, cultures and experiences to perform in large-scale; a radical act of moving together through times of global hardship. As part of this, Liesel will be offering a free workshop to explore how we can use movement and dance to feel more connected in times of increased isolation.
