25.01.2022 Not many people pay attention or care much for their feet but they are truly a biomechanical marvel!! Did you know the Foot consists of 26 bones, 33 joints and over 100 different muscles tendons and ligaments!! This means your feet hold 1/4 of the bones in your body! This allows your feet to absorb the shock of your entire body weight and allow us to walk, run and jump with strength and great accuracy! Just remember to give those feet some TLC as they are your biggest mode of transport #podiatry #footfacts

23.01.2022 DID YOU KNOW that not every sport shoe is the same?? Sport shoes are designed for specific sports or types of training. Whether you play competitive sport, run or train at the gym will influence the type of shoe that is required. ALSO, your foot type is VERY important in the type of shoe that you will need. Shoes are designed to support different types of feet! The shoe your friend may love and recommend may not be the shoe for you! If you are looking for a new shoe, talk to your podiatrist!

23.01.2022 Not sure when you should see a podiatrist? What do we do? Podiatrists are lower limb specialists who diagnose and treat biomechanical injuries, dermatological (skin and nail) problems, assess your blood flow and nerve sensation (in particular for people with diabetes), provide orthotic therapy, footwear assessments and provide minor nail surgery (mostly for chronic ingrown toenails). Some of our most common conditions we treat: Corns/callouses Ingrown toenai...ls Plantar fasciitis Achilles tendonopathy See more

16.01.2022 Podiatrists are very important in the management and treatment of people with diabetes! One of the first places to suffer from poor nerve sensation or reduced blood supply is commonly the feet! Kane’s patient presented 8 days ago with this neuropathic pressure ulcer (wound as a result of reduced nerve sensation). With regular dressings, offloading and pressure deflective orthotics the wound healed fast! Remember to always inspect the feet throughout the day to make sure there are no signs of damage or infection! #savingfeet #orthotics #podiatry

16.01.2022 LEG LENGTH DISCREPANCIES Did you know you could have a significant leg length discrepancy (LLD) without knowing? Common signs and symptoms of a significant LLD can be: Pain and injury on one side of the body ... Lower back pain Asymmetrical alignment of the body when standing or walking. Leg length differences can be caused by soft tissue (tightness or weakness of the muscles, tendons or ligaments) or bone (bone length difference) or both. The most accurate way to assess if you do have a LLD is to have a thorough biomechanical assessment and a LLD x-ray scan. Your lower limbs are the foundations for the rest of your body. If they are out of balance this can affect the rest of your body! If you think this may be you give us a call to have an assessment #leglengthdiscrepancy

Keratolysis Urea works like an exfollient, promoting increase cell turnover. This removes dry, flaky skin more quickly. 14.01.2022 Do your heels look a bit like this? Summer is a time when a lot of people experience cracked heels (fissures) and callous from wearing thongs and sandals too much. If this looks like your feet, it might be time to see your podiatrist

14.01.2022 NEW STOCK - Stay comfortable and supported this summer with our new range in Revere sandals. With removable foot beds to fit your orthotics you can stay supported all summer long!

13.01.2022 HOT TIPS FOR SUMMER 1. Dry feet: The heat, sandals and hot concrete are all factors that can dry your feet more during the summer period. It is important to manage this by applying a heel balm moisturiser regularly. If the callous is very thick it may be important to see a podiatrist. 2. Avoid thongs: Thongs have no support and only provide a small strap to keep your foot inside the thong. Over time this can create overuse injuries and can cause your toes to claw to grip ...onto the shoe. A great alternative is an orthopaedic thong or sandal with arch support and adjustable straps. 3. Avoid barefoot: Shoes are important to protect our feet. When around communal changerooms and pools protect your feet by slipping on a pair of thongs (one of those few times thongs are highly recommended!) to prevent the spread of fungal infections. 4. Choose your socks and shoes carefully: Feet become more sweaty in the summer time which can cause an increase in blisters and fungal infections. To avoid this, choose your materials carefully. For shoes pick leather or mesh shoes to allow your feet to breathe. For socks choose moisture wicking socks that remove moisture away from the skin, keeping your feet more dry. 5. Sunscreen: The feet are an area of high sun exposure in the summer and are commonly an area that is forgotten about. Dont forget to slop some sunscreen on! See more

13.01.2022 Nail salons are a big cause of fungal infections in the nails. This is due to unsterilised, reused and unhygienic equipment and foot basins etc. Here are a few good reasons to see your podiatrist instead of visiting the nail salon next time: Prevention of fungal infections of the skin and nails Prevention of Bacterial infections for example MRSA (Methicillin-resistant Staphylococcus) ... Prevention of warts caused from a virus known as HPV (human papillomavirus) See more
