06.01.2022 Working from home? Internet and running cost rate per hour - Keep a diary of the home office hours versus household private internet use for four weeks. To get the work use percentage and also number of hours. Mobile - Log business use versus private use over four weeks to get the work use percentage. ... Keep invoices for all expenses related to work. Office supplies, postage, equipment, computer repairs and so forth. If you work from home however the business is not run from your home. There won’t be any deductions for home Occupancy costs like rates, interest, rent and so forth. If unsure, keep the invoice/receipt and we can discuss at tax time. Four week log is fine if use over the whole period is similar. If there are major changes week to week keep a continuous log. Stay well everyone Regards Jenny Carter

04.01.2022 https://ntaa.cmail20.com/t/y-l-udltulk-irykdiurw-r/ A simplified method of claiming home office from 1/3/20 to 30/06/20 is a flat 80c per hour for everything. Includes internet, stationery, depreciation, phone, furniture, cleaning. This method can be used even if you don't have a dedicated office. You still have the option of the previous methods which include 52c per hour (furniture, running costs, cleaning) plus other costs as noted in an earlier post. This method has more onerous substantiation, however in many instances it will create a higher deduction.
