23.01.2022 Surplus stock for sale. I have three sets of Wireless, Solar powered infra red beams for sale. I paid $150 per set and I was installing them, however, I have settled on an alternative product and would like to recuperate some of the cost involved. I must stress that these beams are really for someone with a bit of DIY knowledge as they need to be aligned properly and the receivers need to be wired into either and alarm system or wired up to trigger a buzzer - I'm happy to des...cribe how but don't have the time to install them myself. I'd be happy to take $90 per set of beams - any questions, please give me a shout on 0478 213 978 Whats included (per pack) 30 metre Solar Powered infra-red beam 12v Wireless receiver If you'd like me to make up a free standing transformer and buzzer to plug in, I can get the additional equipment from Jaycar, but it will be about $35 for the extras

19.01.2022 It's that time of the year. Opportunists are out there! Get notified about a presence outside - intruder or otherwise. Prices start at $498 installed (in the Brisbane Area) - includes Spotlight Camera, Solar charger, installation and configuration. Contact Dez on 0478 213 978 for further details. Note that a wifi internet connection and a smart phone is required.

17.01.2022 Intruders are not like the picture above, they are not comical, blundering idiots - rather they are at best, anti-social slugs and at worst, dangerous and calculating. Either way your property or more critically, you, once targeted, are not safe. Unfortunately the where, when and how intruders come to call is not up to you and cannot be predicted. The best you can do, is to be prepared. It does not need to be expensive and can be extremely simple. "Its the unexpected that cat...ches them out! Every time." This is the solution. The most installed form of alarm here in Australia has been an indoor alarm with two or more indoor sensors, connected to a control panel, keypad and siren, perhaps with a back to base monitoring system connected to the phone line. Which is fine, provided it triggers, it can ensure that your premises is not totally ripped off. But you still need to deal with the emotional effects of having your privacy invaded and the associated costs of damage repair and replacement of lost goods. With a little effort and ingenuity, intruders can be detected before they can get in, before they can damage anything. What needs to be done is to reduce the time between detection (when the intruder is first detected) to response (sirens, bells, whistles, response team, you with a baseball bat). Some form of early warning system, awareness of the intruders' presence is key. An UNEXPECTED or unanticipated early warning system is devastatingly effective. - A few simple, non technical examples - Legend (and Google) has it that in 390BC, geese alerted Rome to an impending Gaul attack, saving the city from destruction. More recently, a farmer I knew in Africa, had Pennyroyal instead of grass around his residence. When crushed (by being walked on), Pennyroyal gives off a very strong fragrance similar to spearmint. In the still of the night, he could tell if someone was in his small garden simply because he could smell the fragrance. Another lunatic I knew rigged tripwires to his shed doors - this connected to a contraption which would trigger a .22 blank and scare the living daylights out of intruders (but probably just his wife who forgot it was there!) Please note that I do NOT recommend this as a solution, I make mention of it only to illustrate a point. You're really only limited by your imagination Technically speaking, external photoelectric beams or outdoor Passive Infra-red detectors can offer a similar early warning system. Remember though - its the unanticipatedness (if there is such a word) which is they key, so keeping the details of where the sensors are and what they cover or any other details to yourself is recommended. I'd be happy to outline cost effective methods of perimeter alert systems - please email me at [email protected] or call me on 0478 213 978

15.01.2022 Another keep-safe tip. Not all security measures are electronic. The goal is to be safe and prevent becoming a statistic. My mantra is "it's the unexpected that catches them out - every time!" Anything that you can do to make an intruder think twice about trying it on, anything you can do to put them on the back foot will benefit you. It is being reported that there are opportunistic intruders, who will come and "innocently" knock at your door, when there's no answer will try... the door to see if it is locked, in some cases, breaking in. Well, this is something I have tried and it does put people on the back foot. I have a son who works night shift so I put up a handwritten sign letting people know that there's a nightshift worker onsite and asked not to be disturbed. Since I put it up, I have not had a single door knocker. Now, I also have cameras recording so I can look back and see the potential knockers arrive - look at the door, and then turn and leave. I can't tell who is a "genuine" door knocker or who is a potential intruder, but generally it's someone trying to sell me something, convert me to another faith, change my electricity/phone/internet provider or part me from some of my heard earned cash so if that's all it prevents, it's a good tip anyway! Just remember if you're waiting for a delivery, either take the sign down or amend it to say deliveries welcome. Point is, if someone is having a look for an opportunity to do some mischief, seeing signs that someone is home may deter them and persuade them to find a softer target. (Getting some second hand size 14 workboots from Vinnies or Lifeline and leaving them outside the front door may help with the decision)

13.01.2022 Dez's Free Tip to Keep Safe this Christmas! - You're welcome! Thank me later.... Interested? Read on... "Its the unexpected that catch them out!" - this is my mantra in electronic security. Here's one of my tips to trip up intruders - using what you already have at hand. This system can get ramped up to include IP cameras etc, but for now, I'm going to cover the basics. ... It IS a bit of a mess around to configure, but it's unexpected and it is free! (Embarrassingly, I've been caught by this myself - I'm a bit of a practical joker and my antics were recorded, by someone I had taught, using this!) So simple a five year old could manage it ! (go now, find a five year old, you may need him/her) All you'll need is - A little knowledge of your confuzer - A laptop or desktop with either an on-board or cabled webcam. - An internet connection - A smartphone or separate iPad, tablet or computer to view the camera remotely. Go to https://www.ispyconnect.com/download.aspx and download the iSpy Program onto your windows device (please note, that this will NOT work on an apple device) Once you have downloaded and installed iSpy, open it and click on "Add camera" (see Pictures) then select "local Camera" - select your computers webcam, set the mage size, then click OK to add the camera - a new screen will pop up - select the tab "motion detection" - here you can set the sensitivity and detection areas, once you have done that, go to Storage to set the recording location - then click "Finish". You're now set up to covertly record motion. Just face the camera to the area you'd like to monitor. To make an in-depth tutorial would just take too long - so suggest you try it and test it. It is even possible to view it remotely - by setting up Teamviewer on the machine go to https://www.teamviewer.com/en/download/windows/ - Teamviewer is free for personal use.Just remember when setting it up to create a password for non- attended use (i.e. when you're not there) This is a clunky method of viewing your screen, but it is free. Remember to cover the camera LED and if possible, turn off the screen - this way, while you're at work you can check to see what is happening at home. You can use teamviewer on a smartphone to view, but it's a bit messy. There are of course simpler methods, and cameras available, but they cost money. This is simply something to covertly record in your absence.
