25.01.2022 Occupational therapy (OT) is a degree-based health profession, regulated by the Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency (AHPRA). Occupational therapists use a person-centred and whole-of-person approach with individuals, groups and communities to achieve optimal health and wellbeing through participation in the occupations of life. The term ‘occupation’ is used to describe all the everyday things we do in our life roles, but also the things we do to be who we are, t...he things we do to create a meaningful life and to engage with wider society and culture. An Occupational Therapist will gather information about the person and their environment and the impacts this may have on their performance in every day occupations (ie. aka activities). Occupational therapists work within many areas of practice to provide support to those who experience difficulties engaging in the everyday activities of life one of the many areas is paediatrics. Paediatric occupational therapy applies specialist approaches and techniques to maximise a child’s engagement, achievement and independence in all activities, including those at school, play, leisure and self-care skills such as dressing and feeding. If there is a task a child is finding challenging the chances are it is something an OT can help with. The CPH&P is available for all your paediatric OT needs. NDIS, TAC or Medicare rebates may apply. Phone 5324 2900 for all enquiries. See more

23.01.2022 Have you or your children ever utilised Art Therapy for healing and/ or expression? .... if you have, you will know how wonderful it is! .... if you haven’t, why not give it a try?! We are super thrilled to announce the commencement of Art Therapy at The Centre for Perinatal Health & Parenting ..... meet our newest CPH&P Team Member, Trish Lannen. For many years Trish worked in Education as a Primary School teacher (both classroom and art specialist) and Deputy Principal, fir...stly in Tasmania and then in schools around Ballarat before completing a Masters in Creative Arts Therapy at the MIECAT Institute in Fitzroy. She loves working with children, always seeking to celebrate them, empower them and assist them to be all that they can be. Trish has also taught art to adults, and teaching art has given her many opportunities to witness the transformative possibilities of artmaking. Trish believes that creative expression provides opportunities for self-exploration, building capacity, deepening understandings of self and others, acceptance and healing. Art Therapy is utilised as a vehicle to help explore emotional experiencing, provide moments of mindfulness and self-care, and to assist in creating the pathways leading to a balanced, fulfilling and integrated way of being in the world. Trish is pleased to be able to offer Art Therapy sessions at the Centre for Perinatal Health and Parenting for those who may feel it will be of benefit to them, whether NDIS funded, TAC or self-funded. Call The Centre/message us today for more information and to book an appointment with Trish soon on 5324 2900...

20.01.2022 ... sometimes, amid the chaos of life, when we’re so tired, we switch on parenting auto-pilot, we forget to REALLY look at our children. Not assessing what they need, but looking into their eyes to see how they’re really doing, how they’re really feeling, as opposed to the constant welfare-check-type scanning a parent regularly does .. https://www.perinatalhealth.com.au//are-you-really-seeing-

20.01.2022 So many things to play with in our reception area! Cars, books, toys, dolls... what more could you want?

18.01.2022 Witnessing a parent in a state of anxiety can be more than just momentarily unsettling for children.
