24.01.2022 We desperately need your help this Christmas. Does your workplace usually hold a Christmas toy drive? Are you thinking about making a donation or buying a gift for a child in need this Christmas? We need you With covid taking so many people out of the workplace we have not only doubled the need for gifts this year, we have fewer workplaces getting together to donate them.... We have over 250 children who’s families are struggling this Christmas, and we want to make it a beautiful and magical time for them. Mums and Dads have no idea how they’ll afford gifts let alone how they’ll put food on the table. Please help us to help these families and donate a gift or make a financial donation and we can buy a gift on your behalf. Financial donations over $2 are tax deductible. We needs gifts for Birth to age 2 Age 3 - 5 Age 6 - 12 Young teens Older teens Parents and care givers Grandparents Which is pretty much everyone Gifts must be new and unwrapped. We may have groups of siblings and want to make sure their presents are equal. We’re sorry but we cannot take any second hand gifts. We will have several drop off days at our HQ The Kala Space leading up to Christmas and as we get closer to the date we’ll know what age groups we’re lacking gifts for. At the moment we need everything for everyone Thank you so much for helping us make Christmas a magical time for these families. Www.nhcollective.org.au/xmas2020
24.01.2022 Bob is a 36 year old man who is looking for work in the Melbourne Metro area. Bob has his forklift drivers licence and crane license. Although Bob is currently experiencing homelessness he has a van that he sleeps in and can drive. Bob was working part time until covid hit and is really keen to get back to work. We’ve known Bob for around 4 years now and he really is a genuine hard working friendly guy. If you’re able to offer Bob a genuine job we’d love to hear from you! P...lease email us at [email protected]
24.01.2022 Melbourne we cannot thank you enough. We put a call out for Christmas presents for kids who will otherwise receive nothing for Christmas due to many factors such as homelessness, poverty and the devastating effects of Covid, and in just a matter of days we raised enough money to buy gifts for 100 of our target of 250 children. These toys and gifts will all be going to Stevenson House to support families in Caroline Springs, Melton and Taylor’s Lakes area. We will be droppin...g them off to Catrice and her incredible team first thing tomorrow morning. We still have 50 more children to help for Stevenson house so we will be doing another fundraiser but please rest assured your money does go exactly where we say it’s going. Every single cent. 100 kids waking up on Christmas morning knowing they’re special too and having that innocent joy or ripping open presents on Christmas morning m, all thanks to the beautiful hearts of our incredible followers. Thank you all so much. If you’d like to donate please keep ans eye out for our next fundraiser. We still need your help to reach our target of 250 children supported this Christmas To donate directly to our bank account please go to Www.nhcollective.org.au/donate All donations over $2 are tax deductible
23.01.2022 We are so excited to announce a new raffle launching 1 December 2020.
21.01.2022 Yesterday I met with the Australian National Skills Commission with the goal of initiating changes in the employment landscape that will see more jobs available for people with housing insecurity and those experiencing homelessness. More needs to be done to address the individual employment needs of those who need extra supports put in place, who want to and are ready to work. We must have these conversations now so we will see a future where being unhoused is not a barrier t...o finding accessible, purposeful and enjoyable employment. This is just the beginning but we are starting to get a glimpse of a much brighter more inclusive future.
21.01.2022 Today I had the privilege of speaking to 400+ year 8, 9 and 10 students about the work I do with the charity. I also spoke about what it’s like to be an Indigenous person in today’s world and how the stolen generation still has a huge ripple effect on people today. Our First Nations people were wonderful story tellers and passed down 65,000 years of traditions, culture, history and lore around campfires, on long treks and on river banks to make sure new generations learned t...he ways of the land and the stories of the Dreamtime. 65,000 years, and then one day the stories were taken away. I didn’t grow up with the stories. I didn’t hear tales how the land was created or of how the rainbow serpent travelled from one watering hole to another across the land, or how the great God Byamee disguised himself as a wombat to find the most kind hearted animal, a Mama kangaroo, and rewarded her with a pouch to keep her baby safe. So many stories that should have been told, passed from one generation to the next. Stories of the land, the creation of the rocks and the mountains, the creation of the animals and of our ancestors from which our blood comes. Stories of the Dreamtime. Laws that were passed when my Grandfather was just a young boy ensured that if he told these stories to his future children his children would be removed from him and never be returned. For many Aboriginal people, that was the end of the stories. To tell them would mean more generations lost. So the stories were hidden, packed away with the shame of being black. Shame of being who you are. We must make sure the stories return now, and are told to the children with the same richness and colour as our ancestors told them. We must bring back the 65,000 years of story telling and history now, before it is lost forever. Always was always will be, Aboriginal land. #NAIDOCWeek2020
19.01.2022 Melbourne we came through for our little ones during the 2020 lockdown and we need your help again. Unfortunately greater Melbourne is still in lockdown which has meant many families are suffering. We have had an urgent request from one of our larger partner organisations for infant care products. We have around 300 families to support. Sudden job loss has created unexpected financial hardship for many families and once again we are seeing the same devastating effects we wit...nessed in last years Melbourne lockdown. Last year we assisted thousands of families with infant care products thanks to your incredible support. We need your help again. Families with infants have run out of nappies, wipes and infant formula. We have been asked if we can assist and we will do everything we can to see these babies given the care they need but we need your help to do that. The easiest way is to purchase a ticket in our raffle to win a luxury holiday. Tickets are $25 each which is about the cost of a large packet of nappies or a tin of formula. This holiday prize has been donated to us to raffle to raise much needed funds for emergencies such as this. Please click the link below to purchase a ticket and help us help our babes of Melboune stay dry and fed. https://www.raffletix.com.au/?ref=9rk6w&sref=baxx52yw Unfortunately donating to charity is not one of the 5 permitted reasons to leave home so we cannot encourage people to donate physical items. Also with covid being unknown and so many contact points around Melbourne we unfortunately cannot take physical donations at this time. We must limit the amount of contact points for items we donate. Thanks again Melbourne. Please help us help as many of these babes as we can.
19.01.2022 Thank you all so very much! Thanks to your wonderful and very generous donations we have been able to start replenishing our supplies to make sure people affected by lockdown have access to basic food and hygiene items. This is just part of what we have purchased with your donations and we will be making them into individual and family packs. Please see our pinned post if you would like to donate.... We are so very grateful

14.01.2022 Imagine there is a multi vehicle car crash on a major city road. 10 cars, are all smashed and crumpled together. Their occupants alive, not critically hurt, but shocked, bewildered, in pain and trapped. Now imagine the emergency services all arriving on the scene. Police, Ambulance, fire brigade, tow trucks, all standing there looking at the wreckage. But instead of helping, they all decide to leave and call a meeting for a weeks time to decide what needs to be done about th...e accident. They hope to come up with a plan in the next month or so to deal with the accident and help remove some of the cars and maybe some of the occupants. Not all of them though. There wouldn’t be enough funding for that. This is what homelessness services and policies are like. Instead of having an emergency plan with adequate services and funding that they can implement at a moments notice, they stand back, scratch their heads and leave to think about it some more while the people they’re meant to help are left scared, alone, in shock, hurt and trapped. We know homelessness happens. If only we treated it like the emergency it is.

12.01.2022 We too are tired of large companies profiting from the biological function of menstruation. Period poverty is very real and it is degrading, humiliating and damaging. Australia needs this now! https://www.theguardian.com//scotland-becomes-first-nation
11.01.2022 This film is an absolute must see. Do every single woman you know a favour and book a ticket to see it. It’s life changing
10.01.2022 Today in another group we support we saw a post from a carer needing a backpack and toys for a young boy who had nothing. Not even a single toy. Apparently, he likes Harry Potter. Of course we wanted to help so we headed out to straight away by him a couple of Harry Potter things and some clothes. We ended up getting kiddo quite a few new things! Some might say we went overboard but when I look in my own sons room and see how many toys he has, and knowing this little guy had... literally nothing, I didn’t feel so bad getting him a few extra things. His carer is going to keep some to pass on from Santa Giving is great. It really is. This gives us the absolute best feeling in the world. We can’t help everyone but today, one little guy who adores Harry Potter is going to have the best day. But the best part? This little boy gets to create memories with this. When he grows up he’s going to have memories of that time he was just like all the other kids and and some super cool things to play with. What we do with kids today forms their memories when they’re adults. We have a responsibility to make sure those memories are happy ones Have fun little man. We hope these gifts bring you so much happiness

04.01.2022 Everyone needs to see this movie. There is so much history in the fight for gender equality that many of us never even realised happened. Give respect to those who paved the way and see how hard they fought.
