09.01.2022 There are still a couple of places left in this Saturday 10th or Monday 12th October #GrowYourOwn ‘Vegies for Beginners’ workshops, designed for those who want ...to develop their own productive #vegiepatch or #yummyyard but don’t know where to start. These classes have been timed to give those new to produce gardening the opportunity to get themselves set up and take advantage of spring to plant warm season crops. I am an obsessive-compulsive vegie grower, and am totally biased, but I think growing vegies is one of the most important skills we can ever learn... and we never stop learning and getting better. I will cover the essential details such as soil, compost, irrigation, seasonal planting, and seeds vs seedlings. Learn too about how to bring in the good bugs to help manage the bad and deal with potential problems within your fledgling garden. There will also be a tour of my different productive areas at Sophie’s Patch, which include both extensive in ground gardens and wicking beds, to give you the opportunity of exploring what is possible and what is right for you. I will also share some of the mistakes I have made, so you can make sure you don’t make them!? The day includes morning tea of delicious cakes and lunch made from my produce. There will also be some of our famous #SophiesPatch #gooseeggs Portuguese #custardtarts. For more information visit https://sophiespatch.com.au//grow-your-own-vegies-workshop/ Here are some photos from the last workshop we ran. #mypatch See more

02.01.2022 Time to contact the Premier of SA to tell him to listen to his community, not vested interest! His email: [email protected]. Steven Marshall. His phone number: 08 8429 3232. A little something I wrote if you need a helping hand: Dear Honorable Steven Marshall I write to you re the SA Governments decision to go against the wishes of the South Australian people on the issue of allowing GMO in South Australia. Our council(insert here) and 10 others, have sought the input of... their communities, and all voted to keep their councils GMO free. Why then has your Government gone against this decision? Is not the role of the Government to listen and act in the communities best interests? Or is the role of your Government to act in the interests in big business and big pharma? And be corrupt and take bribes? Im a farmer, and am a member of several farming bodies. They all do not support the use of GMO in SA. Please rectify this terrible mistake. Once we allow GMO into SA, then our whole clean green image will be destroyed, and the economic benefits we get from being GM Free will be lost forever. Do it for your children, not for your vested interests. Regards See more
