18.01.2022 Journal Club, Thursday June 4 at 8.00pm via zoom It has been great since our monthly PCAF Journal Club has gone online to welcome many new participants from across Victoria and even interstate. Many participants enjoy the informal social connection and sharing of stories which has come to be known as the "carpark session"- which is similar to what normally happens after our meetings in Collingwood Library carpark.... Hence, we have decided not to have a guest speaker and instead create a space and allow the time for those participants who wish to share their individual experiences. We hope you can join us on Thursday 4th at 8.00 via zoom. Register in advance for this meeting: https://us02web.zoom.us//tZUrf-CtqjMrH92B-4CaUejURIw3HkIID After registering, you will receive a confirmation email containing information about joining the meeting.

15.01.2022 'The world moves fast and demands so much from all of us. I imagine with my sons age and disability, it is often more exhausting. Hes directed and redirected, pushed and pulled throughout the day. There are times when hes had enough. Thats when I carry his awkwardly long body against my own short one. Because sometimes, we all need someone to carry us to get us through the next hard thing, to love us through our good, bad, and weak moments. When hes reached his limit, Im close to my own. But when I carry him, he somehow carries me, too'.

09.01.2022 Message from Rachel at Create Vitality - Journal Club Presenter on July 2, 2020 Congratulations for making time to attend the Zoom session! Heres a summary of some of the key points from our discussion. YOU ARE NOT A ROBOT!... If youve noticed challenges staying calm under pressure you are not alone! We are not wired to feel calm in the face of stress. And... the more exhausted we are, the harder it is to cultivate calm in challenging moments. There is no one right way of cultivating calm - different things work for different people. Connecting with support to create tailored, practical and simple ways of cultivating calm can help find relief from stress, exhaustion and overwhelm, so that you can confidently connect with your children even when demands are high. YOU MATTER! How you feel matters! Pretending that everything is fine, when its not, puts the body under more stress. Finding safe ways, to make space for how you really feel in challenging situations, can help reduce stress, exhaustion and overwhelm. Try using a part of me instead of I am to acknowledge challenges. CONNECT WITH THE POWER OF THE BREATH The breath is with you wherever you go! You can use the breath to help soothe your nervous system in the face of stress and high demands. Try taking a full breath in and then breathe out slowly, lengthening the exhale, to help trigger the rest & repair pathways in the body. Repeat as many times as needed! Are you ready for support to find relief from stress, exhaustion and overwhelm? Click the link to book your free Parent Relief Session here www.createvitality.com.au
