25.01.2022 Huge day for Persuasive Toastmasters! On Thursday, November 14, The Inner City Division Humorous & Table Topics Contest was held at the Central Park Theatre. Our club was represented by ... - Yu Zhao (Humorous Contest) - Sergey Lyshenko (Table Topics) Both speakers had previously won in the Area Contest in their respective categories that was hosted by our club in October. They arrived on the day in good spirits and boy, did they need it - all the competitors came in extremely well prepared, with well practiced and polished speeches. One speaker created a power point presentation. Another had an photo album that he used a as prop. However, once Yu took the stage, begun his speech and had the audience in stitches within the first half a minute - it was over. Yu took home the 1st place award for the Humorous Contest! He made everyone laugh and as, the Persuasive in the audience, proud. Next was Sergey. The table topic he had to tackle was "What was the nicest thing that everyone has ever done for you". Table topics are always challenging because you are not given time to prepare and have to be quick on your toes. Sergey remained calm, collected, faced the crowd, and delivered his answer. It was a solid effort and made us think how far Sergey has since he joined our club. He didn't placed in the first three, but it's just a matter of time before he bring home gold. On behalf on Persuasive Speakers, thanks to all who answered the call and competed at night, to our club members who represented us and made us proud, and to the organizers for looking after the logistics. Once again, congratulations to Yu for winning his contest and to Sergey for putting up a solid fight. Best wishes, Pawel
