24.01.2022 This week is National Families Week, and while there are many special weeks and days in the calendar, this one is particularly important for Ngala. At Ngala, families are at the very heart of everything we do, and they are central to our Why. We also know that families come in many shapes and sizes, speak different languages and have different traditions and rituals; but no matter how we live, we're all doing our best for our children. From conception to adulthood, Ngala wi...ll be there as a steadying hand on the journey your family takes, every step of the way, to help raise happiness in your life and the lives of your children. #ngalaraisinghappiness While Covid-19 means we cant take part in physical gatherings to celebrate the importance of families, you can participate online at www.nfw.org.au, where you will find a range of interesting resources and activities to enjoy.

24.01.2022 It's an exciting couple of weeks for us at ELDS Perth Airport! Only one more week until Early Childhood Educators Day!

24.01.2022 Thank you so much to Nicola and Farrell for sharing this video of Finn singing Happy Birthday to Ngala while playing with the party bag of playdough that the Discoverers sent home with the children!

23.01.2022 Happy Fathers Day to all the Dads, Stepdads, Grandads and Uncles out there!

23.01.2022 This is a great article which explains what families have to do to make sure they get their Child Care Subsidy and avoid full fees from July 13.

22.01.2022 As part of our curriculum, each room has a project which is an in depth investigation of an area the children are wanting to explore. Our Discoverers Room's current project is on tactile exploration. Project leader, Cirko, has been taking the children on a journey exploring different textures. This is done by exploring simple household items such as alfoil, sponges and scourers. Cirko made this tent (with the help of Lisa) so that the children had a space to explore these textures! As the Discoverers share a yard with the Wonderers, the younger children are really enjoying and engaging with this area as you can see in the photos. Cirko and Mason are engaging and exploring what a scourer feels like!

22.01.2022 Have you seen our Philosophy in Action display in our hallway? Our Philosophy guides each and every decision we make to support the children's learning and development. This display is a simple and easy way to communicate parts of this. We are currently undertaking an extensive review of our philosophy and will be seeking feedback from educators, children and our families as we go through this process. When it comes to learning and development for young children, what do you believe is important?

18.01.2022 Quality Area 1: Educational Program and Practice The aim of QA 1 of the NQS is to ensure that the educational program and practice is stimulating and engaging, and enhances childrens learning and development. The standards for this area are:... 1.1 Program: The educational program enhances each childs learning and development. 1.2 Practice: Educators facilitate and extend each childs learning and development. 1.3 Assessment and Planning: Educators and co-ordinators take a planned and reflective approach to implementing the program for each child. The main way we meet this area is through our curriculum process. The curriculum is the experiences that we set up to support and extend the learning of each child. These are based on our observations of your childs interests, skills and abilities. The curriculum includes spontaneous experiences and intentional teaching. They way that we document this includes using Educa to create Learning Stories which inform our everyday curriculum, project, storytelling and visual arts. What do you think about the learning stories you receive for your child?

17.01.2022 Birthday week has been so much fun! Here are some photos from the week so far! Thank you for everyone who has shared photos!

17.01.2022 Our educators spend a lot of time thinking about and creating areas for the children to engage with and learn from. These areas all come from observations the educators do on the children and are aimed at extending their interests, learning and development. The educators are always thinking up new and creative ways to use and reuse items. You can see Saoirse engaging in one of these areas. Deki used a photo frame collage. She removed the glass and filled it with different textured items for the children to touch and feel.

17.01.2022 Love this! This graphic and resources around emotions and feelings are great when teaching children about managing and dealing with their emotions.

16.01.2022 Quality Area 3: Physical Environment The aim of QA 3 under the NQS is to ensure that the physical environment is safe, suitable and provides a rich and diverse range of experiences that promote childrens learning and development. The way that the environment is designed, equipped and organised determines the way that the space and resources are used and has the potential to maximise childrens engagement and level of positive experience and inclusive relationships. The stand...ards for this area are: 3.1 Design: The design of the facilities is appropriate for the operation of a service 3.2 Use: The service environment is inclusive, promotes competence and supports exploration and play-based learning We meet these standards by providing environments which are safe, engaging, inviting and inclusive for all children who attend our service. We look at the development and interests of each children to determine appropriate resources and equipment and plan our environments with these in mind. We also incorporate safe risks in our environments as this is vital for childrens development. We use materials which are reused, recycled or upcycled to support environmental responsibility. Environmental responsibility is something we are working on as a service and you will hear more about as we go on this journey. What is your understanding of environmental responsibility? See more

16.01.2022 Hey Dads! Are you expecting a baby sometime soon or have you had a baby in Australia since March? Wed encourage you to participate in this study that aims to understand the experiences of maternity care during the COVID-19 pandemic. Were especially interested in the experiences Dads have had during this time. The survey can be accessed here https://curtin.au1.qualtrics.com/jfe/form/SV_bJI8jPiD06la4S1

16.01.2022 Quality Area 2: Childrens Health and Safety The aim of QA 2 under the NQS is to safeguard and promote childrens health and safety, minimise risks and protect children from harm, injury and infection. The standards for this area are:... 2.1 Health: Each childs health and physical activity is supported and promoted 2.2 Safety: Each child is protected We meet these standards by having an extensive range of procedures in place to ensure the health and safety of each child at the service. These procedures cover everything ranging from unwell children, child protection and protective behaviours, routines, sun safety, medication, food preparation and hygiene plus many more areas. These procedures are regularly reviewed based on best practice, current knowledge, research and professional advice. What is important to you when it comes to your childs health and safety?

15.01.2022 Happy Mothers Day to all the Mums, Grandmothers, Aunties and Carers out there! You are amazing and we are all so lucky to have you in our lives. Enjoy today

14.01.2022 Thank you so much to Anna from Kerrageouskoffee for delivering us coffee this morning! The Educators were thrilled and it was a perfect morning boost after the long weekend!

14.01.2022 Ngala recognises and honours Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people as Australias First Peoples. Wanjoo, meaning welcome in Noongar, is a song in the Noongar language of Western Australia performed by Gina Williams. We introduced singing Wanjoo with the children over a year ago as one way of building connections with Aboriginal culture. In this video, Levi sings along with Wanjoo. It is his favourite song and he requests it multiple times each day! Levi demonstrates the routine of getting the song up on our iPad and facing the screen down so we don't get distracted by screens. Along with the singing the song, the educators talk to the children about the meaning of the song.

14.01.2022 Guess what?! Its our 10th Birthday! We will be celebrating 10 years of Ngala Early Learning and Development Service Perth Airport next week. We are so excited to share our celebrations with our children, families, educators, staff and Ngala community. Stay tuned for what we get up to!

14.01.2022 Love seeing our team engaging in reflective discussions! Amy and Ha were able to spend some time out of the room this week to have a team meeting and reflect on their room and make plans for the coming weeks!

13.01.2022 Have you seen the amazing display our Adventurers room has created? This display features recycled and upcycled items and was planned with sustainability and environmental responsibility in mind. The tree was created using old stools! The area showcases what the children are engaging with and learning about in the room. Fantastic work, Adventurers!

The National Quality Standard (NQS) sets the high national benchmark for early childhood education and care and outside school hours care services in Australia. 03.01.2022 Happy Early Childhood Educators Day 2020! As Coordinator of Ngala Perth Airport, I have the privilege to witness the amazing work that our educators and staff do each day to support the learning and development of the children in our service. Each day you get to see the engaging and inspiring learning environments that are set up and the warm and responsive relationships and connections between the educators and the children during drop off and pick up. What you dont get to... see is the free time the educators give up to ensure their learning stories are perfect or the countless reflective conversations had each day to ensure the children are safe, secure, happy and engaged. You dont get to see creativity and passion that goes into creating and setting up each learning environment or the time spent making sure that each child is included and engaged during the day. Our educators bring passion, creativity, inspiration and joy into their roles each day and I am so proud to be a part of this. Each family who attends our service are trusting us to love, care and educate their children and this is not something we take lightly. The role of an educator is so important and the impact can last a lifetime. On this day, I want to thank each Early Childhood Educator for the work they do day in day out. Never forget how important and valued you are. Thank you Rachael

03.01.2022 Thank you so much to Bunnings Belmont. and Ascot Rotary for donating some items for our gardens. Items included compost bins, soil, seedlings, tucker bush plants and children's tools.
