17.01.2022 BUSHFIRE ADVICE #BREAKING: Western Power says 2 power poles have been burnt in the fire and power has been cut to Mullewa, Western Australia. A spokeswoman ...says the utility is hoping to have electricity restored by 9pm if the repairs can be done. #BREAKING 6:15pm The Geraldton-Mt Magnet road has reopened. A bushfire advice is in place for people in an area bounded by Geraldton-Mount Magnet Road near Casuarinas Road to the south, west to Peter Road and north to Old-Geraldton Road. There is no threat to lives or homes, but there is a lot of smoke in the area. DFES says the bushfire is moving fast in a north easterly direction and is out of control and unpredictable. Firefighters are on the scene actively fighting the fire. The City of Greater Geraldton is advising community members to avoid the area until further notice and obey all warning signs and directions. UPDATE 7pm - The Geraldton- Mullewa rail line has reopened.

There is no threat to lives or homes. Although there is no immediate danger you need to be aware and keep up to date in case the situation changes. 03.01.2022 Northam Detectives are investigating the circumstances surrounding a car fire that occurred on Wellington Street in Northam on Sunday, 22 November 2020. About 1...1.45pm, an unknown offender set fire to a Mitsubishi Lancer couple that was parked in the carport of the home. The fire spread from the car to the roof of the carport. Department of Fire and Emergency Services attended and extinguished the fire before any structural damage was done to the carport. The fire caused an estimated $10,000 damage to the car and carport. Northam Detectives urge anyone who can identify the person pictured, or who has any information regarding this fire, to contact Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000 or report online at www.crimestopperswa.com.au. People providing information to Crime Stoppers may remain anonymous if they wish. Rewards of up to $50,000 are available for information that leads to the identification and conviction of an arsonist.
