The following alert has been issued by the Parks and Wildlife Service at the Department of Biodiversity, Conservation and Attractions There is no change to the previous alert Time of issue: 03:21 PM Date of issue: 02 December 2020 Bushfire ADVICE for areas west of LAKE JASPER, including BLACK POINT, in SHIRE OF NANNUP ALERT LEVEL: A bushfire ADVICE is in place for people in the vicinity of Black Point, Black Point Track and Fouracres Road in the areas west of LAKE JASPER, including BLACK POINT in the SHIRE OF NANNUP. There is no threat to lives or homes. Although there is no immediate danger you need to be aware and keep up to date in case the situation changes. The fire started near the intersection of BLACK POINT RD and WOODARBURRUP RD in LAKE JASPER. WHAT TO DO: If driving Be extremely careful when driving through the area. Turn your headlights on and drive slowly. Watch for emergency services personnel and follow their directions. BUSHFIRE BEHAVIOUR: It is contained but not controlled. ROAD CLOSURES AND CONDITIONS: Avoid the area and be aware of fire and emergency services personnel working on site. A number of roads have been closed including: Black Point Road Woodarburrup Road White Point Road Zig Zag Road Wobbled Well Road Motorists are asked to avoid the area, reduce speed and drive carefully due to smoke. WHAT FIREFIGHTERS ARE DOING: Firefighters are on the scene and are continuing to monitor the situation. DRONES AND AERIAL SUPPORT: Never fly a drone, model aircraft or multirotor near bushfires. Doing so poses a major safety risk to firefighting personnel in the air and on the ground, and forces aircraft to be grounded or redirected, hindering firefighting efforts. EXTRA INFORMATION: The fire was reported at 10:32 AM on 7 November 2020. Currently there has been 3200 hectares burnt. The cause of the fire is suspicious. People are asked to report any suspicious behaviour to Police Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000. Parks and Wildlife Service is managing the fire. 19.01.2022 Northam Detectives are investigating the circumstances surrounding a car fire that occurred on Wellington Street in Northam on Sunday, 22 November 2020. About 1...1.45pm, an unknown offender set fire to a Mitsubishi Lancer couple that was parked in the carport of the home. The fire spread from the car to the roof of the carport. Department of Fire and Emergency Services attended and extinguished the fire before any structural damage was done to the carport. The fire caused an estimated $10,000 damage to the car and carport. Northam Detectives urge anyone who can identify the person pictured, or who has any information regarding this fire, to contact Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000 or report online at www.crimestopperswa.com.au. People providing information to Crime Stoppers may remain anonymous if they wish. Rewards of up to $50,000 are available for information that leads to the identification and conviction of an arsonist.

13.01.2022 BUSHFIRE CLOSES MAJOR GERALDTON ROAD #BREAKING: Western Power says 2 power poles have been burnt in the fire and power has been cut to Mullewa, Western Aust...ralia. A spokeswoman says the utility is hoping to have electricity restored by 9pm if the repairs can be done. The Geraldton-Mount Magnet Road is closed between Edward Road and the Mingenew-Mullewa Road due to a bushfire. A bushfire advice is in place for people in an area bounded by Geraldton-Mount Magnet Road near Casuarinas Road to the south, west to Peter Road and north to Old-Geraldton Road. There is no threat to lives or homes, but there is a lot of smoke in the area. DFES says the bushfire is moving fast in a north easterly direction and is out of control and unpredictable. Firefighters are on the scene actively fighting the fire. The City of Greater Geraldton is advising community members to avoid the area until further notice and obey all warning signs and directions. 07.01.2022 Last Saturday the Darlington Brigade launched its history book with a gala event attended by dignitaries, special guests and Brigade members past and present. "...History of Darlington Volunteer Bush Fire Brigade 1942-2020" is an 84-page, full-colour book full of photos, documents, cartoons, incidents and stories archiving the history and people of the Brigade so far. Authored by Cliff Burns, with major contributions from former Darlington Captain, David Hughes, the book was published with the assistance of the Darlington History Group and the support of the Shire of Mundaring. The book was launched by Fire & Emergency Services Commissioner Darren Klemm, with commendations from Matthew Hughes MLA, Member for Kalamunda (representing the Minister for Emergency Services, Francis Logan) and Shire of Mundaring CEO, Jonathan Throssell. We are delighted with the quality of the finished product, and are so proud to be able to present the Brigades history for current and future generations to enjoy. With a water/retardant capacity of 2500 litres the F-25 will offer a high performance option to the many older designed Aircraft that are used around the world to help combat the devastating wildfires that seem to get worse each year. The partners are also working on developing a boom scooper to allow fast refill from lakes, reservoirs and ocean areas adjacent to the fires. The standard F-25 without the boom will be available early 2021.
