25.01.2022 The next Shotgun shoot scheduled for Saturday 3rd October has been cancelled due to the AFL Grand Final. Members wishing to shoot can do so using the club thrower (must have key for clay thrower and own clays etc) on an informal/practice basis. The following shoot will be the Shotgun Championships on October 17th. The PRMSC Shotgun Championships (17/10/15) will have a change of format and starting time. Starting at 1.00 sharp (Registration will be open from 12.00), the Champi...onship will consist of 50 single targets with a entry fees set at $10 (Gold Members) and $20 (standard Members). Only PRMSC financial members are invited to shoot and be eligible for subsequent place awards. A BBQ and social discourse will follow the shoot. Although the recipients of the Championship Awards, Perpetual Trophy, and season Aggregate winners will be announced following the event, the official recognition will be conducted at the club AGM on November 1st. Members wishing to participate in the Shotgun Championships are asked to email John Sherriffs at [email protected] . This will assist in catering. You may also wish to advise if you require the use of Club shotguns and the purchase of ammo. Members supplying their own ammunition are reminded that shotsize for the Championships is restricted to size 7 to 9 inc. Kind Regards

24.01.2022 Hi everyone well the weekend is upon us and we will be shooting the 500m fly at 7 am Saturday morning, then a metallic silhouette shoot at around 10.30 am to give people something to do until the fun begins with the practical hunting competition starting at 12.30 mid day Saturday, then on Sunday it all happens with the rimfire rifle and rimfire pistols being run at the same time for our main comp of metallic silhouette and then the centrefire rifles and the centrefire handgun...s will be shot after that. Remember all you newbies if you want to have some fun come up the club before 8 am and see the friendly people running the competition they can get you allocated a bay to shoot from a good .22 rifle if you don't have one or your rifle is not suited to this kind of shooting, it will only cost $10 for the comp and $5 for a full box of .22 target ammunition. anyway that's it in a nut shell the practical hunting boys will welcome you all with open arms as well if you want to have a shot with them also. CHEERS from me, Brendan. See more

21.01.2022 Hi Everyone we will be having the inaugural 200m rimfire fly shoot this Saturday from 10.30 so bring a rest and maybe a rear sandbag a box of your rifles favorite ammo $10 to enter and shoot to win. If you have shot the 500m fly this will be just as challenging but we hope to see a few 200m rimfire fly badges handed out this weekend , Hopefully I will be there with Scott to have a go and range officer it I have my benchrest range officer certificate, there are plenty of people there to help out if you need any assistance so please come along,,, the rifle we shoot the metallic silhouette comp will be able to shoot the fly no problem, we use the same scopes on rifles for 500m that some of us are using for silly wets. 24X is plenty good enough even a lower magnification scope will do I use a 6 - 18 Weaver scope myself on my model 5 BRNO.

21.01.2022 Hello everyone due to the bush fire's and the road closures the committee and competition delegates have decided to not hold any competitions this weekend both Saturday and Sundays comps will be affected, this will not stop anyone going up the club for a shoot as long as you have the key and combo to get in, you may or may not get into the complex it is up to the police and FESA weather the roads are open or not , it will be up to you if you want to go and risk being turn back, We do not do this lightly but we can not guarantee access . Thank you for looking, Brendan PRMSC secretary

20.01.2022 HI Everyone please remember the club AGM will be held on Sunday the first of November starting at 9 am, you can pay your membership fees to the treasurer on the day, also you will be asked to fill in a form with your details so please allow time for this before or after the AGM.

16.01.2022 Just a note to remind all members that we do not have an official lost property box , can all members do a final check of the areas that they shoot to see if they had left anything behind, if you find something and there is no body about then either put the property in the drawer of the score-takers table or inside the main clubhouse up the back corner on the large cabinet , if it is something you would not like to leave behind then please contact a committee member or the discipline delegate and ask them what to do you should have a contact number for the shoot captain if not ask him for his number, it will be handy in-case you leave something behind or find something at the club. Thank you from, the Perth Rifle Metallic Silhouette Club Committee You can email the club secretary on [email protected]

16.01.2022 An Upper House inquiry has recommended that a two-year trial of recreational hunting in WA nature reserves be allowed to go ahead. Tabling its report in Parliament today, the Standing Committee on Public Administration said recreational hunting was done safely in NSW and Victoria and there was no reason WA should not follow suit. The report was not unanimous, however, with two of the committee's five members - Labor MLCs Amber-Jade Sanderson and Darren West - submitting a dis...senting report. The committee said a two-year pilot program should be held subject to certain conditions such as a "thorough" risk assessment, consideration of native title requirements and the measurement of its effects on feral animal numbers and local economies. The committee also suggested that any hunting scheme be accompanied by an online booking and GPS tracking systems, saying they had proven successful in NSW. Noting that hunting could run up against native title hurdles, the inquiry said the trial should be located in two relatively manageable and separate areas such as a reclaimed pastoral station and a state forest in the South West. "After considering the evidence, the Committee takes the view that the question of the introduction of a recreational hunting system in Western Australia is one that has many differing viewpoints in the Western Australian community," the report said "Should a recreational hunting system be adopted in Western Australia, an independent risk manager should be engaged prior to its implementation. "The Committee finds that the online booking and GPS tracking systems used in New South Wales are extremely helpful in managing risks of hunting. "There are long standing, well-established systems for recreational hunting in other jurisdictions." Calls for a recreational hunting trial immediately provoked outrage from animal welfare activists and conservation groups, who said it was a dangerous step that would do nothing to reduce pests. According to the dissenting report by Ms Sanderson and Mr West, there was no evidence to support the conclusion that hunting would benefit the environment or tourism industries. Instead, they said the testimony presented to the committee suggested hunting "can be dangerous, expensive to manage, potentially damaging to other industries, at odds with aboriginal hunting practices and with native title rights (and) also highly ineffective as a means of controlling targeted species". "No government agency supported the introduction of a recreational hunting system in either hearings or submissions to the committee," the Labor MPs noted in their report.

15.01.2022 Hi Everyone just a reminder that the club will be shooting the handgun champs this Sunday, 7am to 8.30 am practice then rimfire starts at 9am and the C/f will have a 15 minute practice session after the rimfire finishes and then there will be 2 40 shot matches ater that a half distance course of fire for low powered C/f handguns (9mm to 38 super) and then the full size shoot at the full distance for every C/F gun, things may change on the day depending on who turns up so please try to make it early $10 per event, Trophies will be presented at the AGM if time permits for the making of trophies but winners will get them. We had to change everything because of the WSC closing down for major fence repairs so we quickly decided on this day, next year the Club will be better prepared with trophies and prizes etc .

Rimfire followed by low powered centrefire followed by hi powered centrefire, rimfire starts at 9 and centrefire to follow on after the rimfire has completed , time for centrefire can nor be given due to the unknown time the rimfire comp will take, club champion will be decided by the rimfire score as all pistol shooters have rimfire pistols but not all have centrefire pistols, club pistols are available to anyone who has not got their own pistol but have done the pistol safety course. Thank you, PRMSC committee.

12.01.2022 Hi everyone we are just finalizing the dates for the RMS state champs so look out for that, there are heaps of grades etc to compete in so just because you are not the best shooter out there you could still walk away with a medal or even the door prize , last year my wife won it, a SSAA single swag, my son has claimed it for himself to use out camping. Thanks for looking, Brendan 009

11.01.2022 for anyone be a member of the PRMSC club you MUST be financial with both the club and the SSAA ( and at least the SSAA for life members), if you are not a financial member of the SSAA you can not use our range, the same applies if you are more that 3 months late with your club fees, you will be asked to leave the premises and hand in your WSC gate key as you will no longer be covered by PRMSC and SSAA insurance and all club assisted firearms will have to be handed in until yo...u are financial again. if you are too far unfinancial all you waiting times will be reset so 6 month wait for your first pistol and 12 months after that for any other pistol you want or have at a dealers, {PLEASE REMEMBER THIS. we are asked every year if everyone is complying with the law to keep their guns, we have in the past told the police a club member with supported guns is not complying we hope we do not have to do it again, just doing it makes me feel bad. thank you for looking, Brendan. See more

06.01.2022 I am glad to announce that the PRMSC is now officially shooting the 200m .22lr rimfire fly competition, we have it up on the calendar of events as well as the SSAAWA website, so you can now bring out your .22 rimfire rifle and use it in another competition shot at the PRMSC range, all you need is a packet or 2 of rimfire ammo $10 range fee (or free if a gold card member) and come join in the fun, hit the fly and get a patch for your shirt or hat.
