22.01.2022 Leeds United have made two changes to the starting line-up that faced Crystal Palace ahead of the recent international break. Raphinha will make his first start for the team at Elland Road with Kalvin Phillips also back in the squad after suffering a shoulder injury in the game against Wolverhampton Wanderers in October. Gjanni Alioski keeps his place in the starting line-up against Arsenal with Rodrigo joining the Leeds United bench alongside Helder Costa.... 13.01.2022 Leeds United are delighted to announce the signing of Rennes winger Raphinha, subject to international clearance. The 23-year-old has joined the club for an undisclosed fee from the Ligue 1 side and has penned a four-year deal at Elland Road, running until the summer of 2024. The Brazilian started his career with native club Avaí, before being snapped up by Portuguese outfit Vitória de Guimarães in 2016.... After making 84 appearances for Vitória where he scored 22 goals and provided 13 assists over two seasons, he was signed by Sporting CP. With Sporting CP, he helped the club win both the Taça de Portugal and Taça da Liga in his debut 2018/19 season. Following his impressive first campaign at the Estádio José Alvalade, Rennes moved to secure his services last summer for a reported 18m fee. He featured for the French outfit 30 times last season, scoring seven goals and providing five assists, with Rennes finishing third and qualifying for the UEFA Champions League. This season he has featured six times for Rennes, with his last appearance coming in yesterday’s 2-2 draw with Reims in which he scored and he leaves the club at the top of the table. Raphinha also has experience of playing in European competition, having appeared in the UEFA Europa League with Vitória, Sporting CP and Rennes. He becomes the club’s 13th signing of the transfer window and will wear the number 18 shirt at Elland Road and could make his Leeds debut following the international break, when the Whites take on Wolves on Monday 19th October.

06.01.2022 RIP, Leeds United have been saddened to learn of the passing of former midfielder Alejandro (Alex) Sabella at the age of 66. The former Argentina manager joined the Whites from Sheffield United in 1980, before making 27 appearances and scoring 2 goals for the club. Having started his career at River Plate, after a season at Leeds United, Sabella returned to Argentina with Estudiantes where he won back-to-back Championship titles.... His fine form led him to being called up to the Argentina national squad where he won 8 caps, including four during the 1983 Copa America. Stepping into management with Estudiantes, he would lead them to win the 2009 Copa Libertadores and finish runners-up in the 2009 FIFA Club World Cup. Stepping down from his role with the club, Sabella was named Argentina manager in 2011, before taking them to the 2014 FIFA World Cup Final in Brazil. Our thoughts are with Alex's family and friends at this time.
