25.01.2022 Woodman Point, I heard a noise outside my office and look what I saw, a reminder to leave your safety chain on until you are actually reversed all the way into the water. This fellow took his safety chain off to save time?. Often we see people take the chain off before they reverse, and then the boat falls off the trailer as they are about to go down the ramp. Happens once a week, so dont think it wont happen to you...

25.01.2022 Thank you Jake!

25.01.2022 Work today was Esperance to do 2x Coxswain assessments. Here is my day in 90 seconds, sunrise to sunset.

23.01.2022 You can now get a Special Deal on boat storage at the Woodies Point Boat Storage Shed if you tell them you are a friend of Perth Boat School.

23.01.2022 Just off Woodman Point earlier today.

22.01.2022 Collected our new boat Educat from Fremantle TAFE, took it for a test drive to Rottnest and Carnac then to its new home at Woodman Point. Then moved the 106 year old wooden ferry MV Perth around while I had some helpers. A great day at work.

22.01.2022 We are still open for Coxswain and Skippers Tickets - but as we have no students today - we are upgrading the trailers slides etc. There is no COVID in Coogee - so we will stay open, following all personal distancing etc. Its great weather for boat training. We are doing it 1:1 with 1 student at a time, on our 6m boats - so max distances at all times.

22.01.2022 Thank you Ngawaka, this is the outcome we aim for with all our students

22.01.2022 Nobody launching at Woodies boat ramp today.....

21.01.2022 Congratulations Jeff and Brad, a great day to assess two competent qualified coxswains !

20.01.2022 Thank you for your kind review Vinnie, we are glad your group had a great time doing your Skippers Ticket with Perth Boat School.

20.01.2022 Coxswain practical assessment today was in the awesome Wilsons Inlet Denmark, which is west of Albany. Tony the resident guru from Great Southern Flyfishing knows his stuff.

19.01.2022 Weird wet fog has drifted in over Hillarys - warm wind like the tropics.

19.01.2022 Testing our training Jet Skis in 25-30kn winds today. Choppy but Brendan and Oliver seemed to have no problems.

18.01.2022 Someone has to do the job of Training Skippers Tickets in Mandurah I suppose....

18.01.2022 Well done Emmanuel school Skippers Ticket students

17.01.2022 AWESOME to watch how well boaters and fishers are acting at the boat ramps this Easter weekend !! Here at Woodman Point boat ramp everyone seems calm, chilling ...in the great day it is, relaxed, giving each other plenty of space, being patient - its great to see. Which is totally different to how it is online - there seems to be a bunch of people getting all uptight about what what is essential' to other people. What may seem essential to one person may not seem essential to another. Even the WA Law Society seems to be still struggling to come to grips with what exactly is essential, but this isn't about law. It's about our community. The WA Premier keeps showing in choice of his words that the primary importance is to prevent the spread of the virus and still maintain our wellbeing, keeping healthy and keep as many of our businesses as possible, going. All at the same time. Going fishing may seem essential for the well being of one person but may seem un-necessary to another. Leave it at that. Getting all angry and banging away on a keyboard will not change things for the better. So let's try to focus on the real aim. It is not up to you or I to judge what is essential for other people - Just decide for yourself. As a community we dont want to needlessly raise the stress levels in our boating and fishing community, because scientific research tells us higher stress levels makes people more susceptible to a virus. And stress, frustration and anger can lead to violence and self harm, and we dont want that. So go easy on people, some have lost jobs, about to lose everything and a boat trip or calm few hours fishing, whether on a boat or at a beach - may REALLY be a lifesaver. The premier urges residents stay home wherever possible and take a common sense approach. So do what makes sense to you, what doesnt breach any of the guidelines for social distancing and doesnt put you in a situation where you are raising the risk. Policing and arguing over tiny little differences in opinion and interpretation on this will cause more damage than good. health.gov.au says, "Prioritising your mental health is important in difficult times" Keep it up people !!

17.01.2022 Thank you Karolina, Ryan is a fantastic trainer!

17.01.2022 Well done Jackie awesome skippering lesson - I hope you get time to use your Skippers Ticket soon.

16.01.2022 Thank you for the feedback Rosie!

16.01.2022 Thank you Andrew, your feedback is much appreciated!

15.01.2022 Albatross rescue is just one more thing our boats and trainers do, in between training Coxswains and Skippers...

15.01.2022 The calm after the storm and Brendan is back painting the gunnels of the 105 old lady. She is looking better and better...

14.01.2022 Berthing is really easy if you do the right things in the right order.

14.01.2022 Want to Train or know someone who would be a good skipper trainer? We need trainers to fill gaps around WA. $40-$50 per hour enjoyable work for the right persons. You need Training Qualifications and Commercial boating qualifications. You need to be tidy and follow processes and rules, able to do paperwork and computer work. Honest and not cut corners. Most importantly LOVE boating and being in boats and good at handling your own boat. We have spent over $150k on the ultimate booking system, trainer login and trainer mobile phone App and a lot more is in the pipeline to prepare us for the new Skippers Ticket laws and system that will remove the corrupt 3rd party assessors from the system.

14.01.2022 iiCAPTAIN to 2 more Skippers Ticket trainers that joined us this week. Welcome Shane and Doug.

14.01.2022 Hillarys at 6am busy as usual. No Crays in the pots though say the boaters coming in...

13.01.2022 Congratulations to these Skippers Ticket achievers at Woodman Point. We had 3 trainers and 3 boats in the water at the same time today so that no boat was crowded and everyone got a better more relaxed training time, and and finished before the sea breeze at midday. What a great day to be out boating.

13.01.2022 50 plus knots of wind made even the 300 tonne MV Perth rock and roll - and those waves are inside the harbour. That boat on the mooring had just been brought in... by Simmo from Rockingham Wild Encounters who braved the weather to move their boat out of the Sound and into the safer mooring in here. Brendan and I picked them up and brought them to shore. See more

12.01.2022 A change of scenery for me today, driving the south west of WA we had to stop and be dwarfed by s these awesome trees!! No boats anywhere... but we are only away from them for a while, tomorrow we have 7 of our boats on the water. Weekends are busiest for us.....so this was a weekday off for 4 of us.

11.01.2022 Well Done - new Skippers at Bunbury Catholic College

10.01.2022 Sunset Drone flyover Woodman Pt boat ramp and Marina

10.01.2022 I rode the bike to work this morning. I am observing Skippers Ticket training at Maylands.

08.01.2022 Thank you Andrew!

08.01.2022 Thank you for your super speedy feedback Sara, congratulations Skipper!

07.01.2022 Coxswain students doing the practical assessment in Cockburn Sound always find plastic rubbish somewhere in the harbour. This time it was on the rock wall. Well done Anna your manoeuvring the boat and then precision with the boat hook got the job done.

06.01.2022 Better Big Boat Berthing - here at Woodman Point today.

06.01.2022 Oliver, Anton and Alicia did the Wright thing and got a Skippers Ticket - congratulations guys !

06.01.2022 Narrogin Agricultural College (WA College of Agriculture - Narrogin) students drove 2.5 hours before dawn to sit their Skippers Tickets with us at Woodman Point. Good luck guys, tractor drivers make good boat skippers usually.

05.01.2022 Farmers make great Skippers. Well done WA College of Agriculture - Narrogin

04.01.2022 Boat Handling and Jet Ski familiarisation for school students

02.01.2022 Love working outdoors - and seeing the weather arriving. Todays front looked awesome with the black clouds contrasted with the light. The wind that had been howling in from the north since yesterday suddenly died down as the front approached - it became almost eerie.

01.01.2022 Every year students from a number of schools around WA do their Skippers Tickets and some do a Boat Experience Day a few weeks earlier in order to show them why they are doing the Theory study and what getting a Skippers Ticket is for.

01.01.2022 The 360 Video camera mounted on the Coxswain assessment boat means we can archive evidence of who did what. Viewed in 2d we can get the camera view to rotate to follow the action. Only a few minutes here of the ten hour assessments. We can also watch it with the VR headset in the office.
