11.02.2022 This morning, I had the opportunity to chat with Liam Bartlett from 6PR about how the Archdiocese of Perth is committed to keeping people safe through this diff...icult time for everyone. I am conscious that many of our older and vulnerable people are nervous about the reopening of the WA border on 5th February. As Pope Francis has said, vaccinations should be regarded as an act of love and we strive to put people first by following public health directives, in the spirit of doing what is best for the wider community. 09.02.2022 Hello Friends. Today I publish my 2021 Christmas Message. At this time in the history of the Church in Australia as we continue the work of the Plenary Council..., and as the whole world continues to confront the daunting challenges posed by the COVID-19 pandemic, the need for peace, the need for stillness, the need for something solid upon which to build our lives, is particularly pressing. God is real, even for those who do not know Him. God is active and present in people’s lives and hearts, even though they do not recognise Him. God’s love is not reserved only for those who acknowledge Him, and God’s power to work through people to bring light and peace and joy into the world is not hindered by those who have not yet come to know Him. I wish you all, and all those who are dear to you, a very happy, holy, and hope filled Christmas.

19.01.2022 Dear Friends This Sunday marks the celebration of Corpus Christi. We invite you to join us online for Mass at 11am AWST, Sunday 14 June. The readings for the Solemnity of the Body and Blood of Christ emphasise the importance of partaking in Communion at each celebration of the Eucharist. They teach how eating and drinking the blessed loaf and cup brings us into communion with the life of Christ in the Holy Trinity.... We invite you to join in this celebration of the Eucharist together with the Perth Catholic community with the opportunity to hear the word of God and to make an act of Spiritual Communion together as an Archdiocese. It has long been a Catholic understanding that when circumstances prevent one from receiving Holy Communion, it is possible to make an act of Spiritual Communion which is a source of grace. Spiritual Communion means uniting ones self in prayer with Christs sacrifice and worshiping him in his Body and Blood. Acts of spiritual Communion increase our desire to receive sacramental Communion and help us avoid the sins that would make us unable to receive Holy Communion worthily. 16.01.2022 How can we be a constructive part of a renewed Church and not initiators of a new church which would, in the end, be our own creation rather than Gods? 16.01.2022 Dear Friends This Sunday marks the 12th Sunday in Ordinary Time. We invite you to join us for Mass at 11am AWST, Sunday 21 June. After our long Lenten journey followed by our time of overflowing Paschal joy, concluding with the solemn feasts of the Lord, we return to a Sunday in Ordinary Time. Our journey through Ordinary Time should be anything but ordinary, though! It is a time when we may immerse ourselves more deeply in the mystery of Christ in all its fullness.... We invite you to join in this celebration of the Eucharist together with the Perth Catholic community with the opportunity to hear the word of God and to make an act of Spiritual Communion together as an Archdiocese. 15.01.2022 Perth Archbishop Timothy Costelloe has today published a Pastoral Letter following the passing of legislation by the Western Australian State Parliament this week, which removes civil law protections to the confidentiality of the seal of confession. This decision of the state parliament not only potentially criminalises fidelity to an essential dimension of the practice of our Catholic faith by our priests but also carries with it no guarantee that any child will be better pr...otected from abuse because of this decision. It is particularly concerning and troubling that the majority opinion of the legislative committee established by the government to look into this matter was not accepted by the parliament. In a 3-2 majority decision this committee recommended that disclosures made in the context of a religious confession should not be subject to the new mandatory reporting laws. You can read the Pastoral Letter in full here https://bit.ly/3vxmNaH

15.01.2022 The key to what we can do and must do to contribute to the rebuilding and renewing the Church, lies in a careful consideration of what fidelity to the Lord and the Lords will for the Church look like. These were the words of Perth Archbishop Timothy Costelloe SDB who this week addressed the Archdiocese of Perths Plenary Council Delegates those that must be called and those that have been called. https://bit.ly/3khyOuS

After a long journey or after a hard days work, we know how welcome it is to be invited in, made comfortable and helped to ease our burden. Indeed, hospitality is one of the hallmarks of civilised humanity. How much more so with the hospitality which God offers to us?... We invite you to join in this celebration of the Eucharist together with the Perth Catholic community with the opportunity to hear the word of God and to make an act of Spiritual Communion together as an Archdiocese.
