18.01.2022 How many chickens fit on the average sheep? Farmer Damian is bringing his Moo-bile Farm to our Farm as a part of our school holiday programming- tickets on sale now from https://events.humanitix.com/urban-farm-play-day-school-hol . Read on to hear Damians explanation of this glorious sight! The Chicken Train: At times a chicken will fly up onto the back of a sheep and generally when that happens others will follow. The most Ive ever seen on the back of a sheep is 8. ...As the name implies, once all the chickens are up there the sheep just keeps on doing what it does, walking around, feeding, pooing and even lying down. Watching the chickens sway from side to side as the sheep walks and move in unison as a sheep plonks itself on the ground is hilarious. The most common question I get is, how did you train them to do that? The answer is simple. I didnt! I dont know why they do it but as I always say, have a look at where they are, its warm, soft and up high. Chickens roost when asleep so maybe its just them saying its nap time or maybe its a response to something environmental around them. Children sometimes will ask if they can put a chicken on the back of a sheep to try replicate what happens. Most times, the chicken just hops down. Its obviously not Chicken Train time. Personally, Im not really bothered why they do it, I like everyone else, just smile when they do.
