11.01.2022 What are the best types of exercise for my older doggo The best rule for exercising your older dog is little and often. It’s important to keep those joints mobile. Several regular short walks throughout the day is much more effective than one long walk per day. And one long walk a week or twice a week can often make things much worse. Which types of exercises will your dog thank you for... Gentle walks on grassy and uneven turf Swimming at the beach or pool Obstacle courses easy to set them up at home! Games such as hide and seek or tug of war AVOID fast exercise such as ball throwing with sudden changes in direction or speed or prolonged exercise. Always pay close attention to your dog for any signs of discomfort or tiredness. If your dog is limping, it’s important to seek advice and treatment from our vets prior to implementing an exercise program. #perthdogrehab #perthdogrehabilitation #olderdogs #seniordogs #perthdogs

10.01.2022 Last week, 14-year-old Harley the Husky visited us for an initial hydrotherapy assessment with Dr Trevor Pavey for his osteoarthritis. After gait analysis and a musculoskeletal and neurological assessment, Harley was all clear. He was then fitted with a harness to go into the underwater treadmill. Afterwards Harley received a towel dry, heat packs and a massage.... He was then ready to go home to start his 4Cyte gel and to have a well-earned sleep. Well done Harley! #perthdogrehab #perthdogrehabilitation #hydrotherapy #arthritistreatment #perthdogs

03.01.2022 MYALGIA Myalgia is a term used to describe muscle pain that is usually considered to be caused by a muscular injury, incorrect use, poor gaits or as the result of a long history of viral infections. Our qualified and experienced therapist Rachel uses her knowledge of the muscular system combined with remedial massage skills to help the condition. ... Massage often helps to inhibit, resolve or reduce episodes of pain. Specific techniques are used to calm the sympathetic nervous system, reduce nerve excitability via fascial release and return the muscle to normal function. #perthdogrehab #perthdogrehabilitation #remedialmassage #dogmassage #perthdogs
