16.02.2022 Today was just one of those days . Speed endurance day is generally not the favourite day of the training week for the sprinter, but a necessary one nevertheless. Today’s session included: 2 x (150m, 120m, 90m) over 16 wickets, plus general strength work specifically targeting the hips following the main unit of the session. What is just as, if not more, beneficial than the physiological and/or biomechanical benefits of this type of work is the mental resilience and grit th...at is developed from this type of work. These athletes know that every Thursday is a hard session for them, not just physically but mentally and yet every week they show up prepared to do the work required regardless of how it will make them feel at the end of it (and I can tell you that it does not make them feel good). They do it anyways, they do it because it fits into the bigger picture of what they’re visions are for their season. Being able to distinguish short-term pain for long term-gain is an honourable quality and takes sacrifice. Hats off to the crew today for putting down a solid effort. #perthelitesprintclub #athleticswest #speedendurance #athleticsaustralia #perthsportlife

03.02.2022 So proud of Rebecca and Kanchana It takes a lot of work behind the scenes to keep healthy and race ready to get to this point in the season. And this season so far certainly wasn’t without its up’s and down’s but both Rebecca and Kanchana have operated with such high levels of integrity, authenticity and grit that for both of them to get in the women and men’s open 100m at the WA State Championships is so well deserved. Congratulations to both of you #perthelitesprintclub #teamvalues #integrity #authenticity #resolve #athleticswesternaustralia

13.01.2022 Was a big weekend for our club. Had several athletes competing in the Perth Track Classic over the weekend. The fastest sprinters in Australia and New Zealand we’re in town for the meet and there were some outstanding performances. With that said, this meet was a learning experience for Kanchana and Rebecca. The only thing we focused on for them at the meet was to COMPETE! A lot of the stress and anxiety of doing this right or not doing that wrong melt away when one focusing... on just competing, this was such a scenario. Times and performances come when one competes. We are very proud with how Rebecca and Kanchana competed, both within 0.10 s of their personal bests. Still more to come with future meets on the horizon over the next couple of months. 12.01.2022 Huge congrats to Rebecca for a wind legal personal best in the 100m She’s put in an extraordinary amount of effort into her training and self-care, particularly over the past several months and the results are now showing . She’s been very consistent with her training and balancing her work and personal life with it as well, which is always one of the most difficult things to do. Keep up the amazing work Bec! #perthelitesprintclub #trackandfield #athletics #trustthesystem #100m

03.01.2022 We’re slowly blending Michael’s acceleration holds into maximal velocity runs. Every week we push out the acceleration distance by 10m or so. Michael Pearce is just about pushing into maximal velocity territory, which will expose him to higher velocities and higher ground reaction forces, therefore we pay close attention to the amount we prescribe during this phase of training as we transition to higher velocity work. Less is more during this transition period. #perthelitesprintclub #perthsportslife #athleticswest #athleticsaustralia #maximalvelocity
