04.01.2022 Grab your tickets now for She is Strong at Old Customs House, 8 Phillimore Street, Fremantle 27-29 November! https://www.trybooking.com/events/landing?eid=672661& Welcome to the hidden world of Circus Women. A place of passion. Of empowerment. Of honesty and of struggles. Where flaws are celebrated and battles are fought. Where beauty is seen through it all.... Stunning contemporary circus is performed alongside a series of photographs capturing many intimate moments which occur outside of the circus spotlight. The imagery, circus and storytelling are intricately woven, so the audience can connect the dots as the show progresses. They will bare witness to honest stories of motherhood, mental struggles, injury and an ongoing theme of women supporting one another (literally). Through an immersive and intimate setting, the spotlight will be on three, multi award winning women who are fierce, funny and strong! Performing at the beautiful Old Customs House in Fremantle, the space will be used in interesting ways which push the traditional formats of theatres or circus tents. It will keep the audience on their toes, and the subject matter in their hearts. Producer and performer Dawn Pascoe says It’s so important for us to come together to tell our stories and have a laugh - and I’m stoked that I can share not only my favourite, creative circus art, but I can do it with women who I truly admire. Yep, this is my dream show. The artists have a strong presence in the WA Circus Scene, and throughout the world. They've won numerous awards including the WA Circus Award at Fringe World (twice) and the Toronto Buskerfest (one of the largest street art festivals in the world) Photographer Rachel Collier is driven to capture women who surround her for what they are: Strong, capable, inspiring women. She feels it’s so important to tell the stories that shape who we are. This unique collaboration between a circus artist (Dawn Pascoe) and a photographer (Rachel Collier) came about after an impromptu photoshoot on a camping trip. When looking at the images on the camera, Dawn didn’t see the flaws of her body, but instead said ‘She is Strong’ And hence a show idea was born
