We’re proud to announce that Perth Games Festival will be making a triumphant return this year, in the form of a hybrid event - in person at the Perth Town Hall, streamed live on the 14th of November! Instead of booths as in previous festivals, games will be shown at PGF 2020 in order from the event stage, with our MCs interviewing and playing games with their developers in a kind of deep dive, game-by-game, with spaces to dedicate to pre-recorded footage of small...er projects. 07.01.2022 Say hi to one of our PGF Sponsors - Chris Grooten! Chriss game Trumpocalypse is on display at the Perth Games Festival 2018 and we caught up with him to get the low-down on the game, and Chris thoughts as a designer. Chris is currently a student Diploma of Digital and Interactive Games at South Metropolitan TAFE Thornlie Campus, and he says he has a long history of playing games reaching back to the times of DOS. ... Trumpocalypse is a satirical view on the worst case scenario of President Donald Trumps influence on the United States that doesnt involve war. There was a deliberate attempt to parody bright orange spray tan and blond toupees. Chris says that making games provides an outlet for his creative side, while fulfilling his analytical and technical tendencies - Im able to concept an idea, create the digital assets, and program them into an environment to create an interactive story. Chris hopes his game provides people with some escapism and some guilt free gratuitous violence. He says Its also be good to see respectful dialogue about why Donald Trump is such a polarising topic. You can find Chris and Trumpocalypse at the South Metro TAFE booth at PGF18, and he hopes to get a version online once hes done with his studies. Stop by and check it out!
