22.01.2022 Just discovered this event tomorrow evening, I am keen to go and meet Jane Milburn as I've watched her work for a while now. She was good enough to include me as one of the makers in her Slow Clothing Project a couple of years ago - https://textilebeat.com/making-feels-good-julie-livingstone/
20.01.2022 Another project completed in class this week, this is one of a set of very bright and colourful cushion covers. Great idea to bring new life to some chair seats which were looking a little sad.
18.01.2022 I've been working on making some re-usable shopping bags ahead of the ban on single use bags which starts this weekend. Here are some of my prototypes, two made of fairly plain curtain fabric which I was given, and a brighter one from an old sheet. They had a successful trial run yesterday, now I need to make some more to have enough for my weekly shop. And try to remember to take them with me when I go to the shops! What's your plan?
13.01.2022 As a change from the necessary but mundane shopping bags I've been making lately, I spent yesterday with the Embroiderers' Guild making fabric beads. Mine didn't get very far, but it was fun! See more at http://julielivingstone.com/2018/07/22/sewing-as-therapy/
13.01.2022 A great first workshop session yesterday at @TheSoundTemple, thanks everyone! Now working on prototype produce bags from upcycled sheer curtains, perfect for holding fruit and vegetables. I've also made a zipped bag to hold my reusable shopping bags, both of these are projects for future workshops.

11.01.2022 Great to see the launch of Fibres West programme for 2019 - some great tutors. I've enrolled and am hoping to get into a workshop on Zero Waste fashion with @hollymcquillan. A long wait, almost 12 months, but I'm sure it will be worth it! I certainly enjoyed last year's event and the new programme is equally promising.
10.01.2022 I spent Saturday at another great workshop with the Australian Sewing Guild, making a Japanese knot bag. It's a slightly odd shape, and hard to get a good photo of when it's not actually being used, but it's something that's been on my 'to do' list for a while. I cut up an old denim skirt, and all those frayed edges were just too good to throw away, so I used them as trim. I think I'll make at least another one, but I might look at tweaking the shape a little after I've tried using this one for a while.

06.01.2022 Really really excited to be asked to run some workshops @TheSoundTemple on upskilling and upcycling at the same time. We will be learning how to make some re-usable shopping bags from recycled or donated fabric, as an introduction or re-introduction to your sewing machine. (Or one of ours for hire if you don't have one). The workshops start on July 17th, more info here https://thesoundtemple.com.au/event/upskill-and-upcycle/ Regular Thursday night classes are taking a break for two weeks to coincide with school holidays, and start back on July 19th.
02.01.2022 This time last year I was beginning to run sewing classes. Unfortunately it didn't work out quite as well as I'd hoped, so now I'm wondering if there's a Plan B. Open to suggestions.
