24.01.2022 Prime Minister Morrison and the Australia Government have announced changes (9/7/20) to existing and future visas which will provide permanent residency pathways for Hong Kong Australian visa holders (students, temporary skilled visa holders) and certain Hong Kong residents. Priority will be given to Hong Kong residents who apply for a Business Innovation and Investment (Provisional) visa which allows a person to own and manage a business in Australia or undertake an entrepre...neurial activity. Requirements for this visa include but are not limited to providing employment for Australian Citizens. Current and future students from Hong Kong will be eligible for a five-year temporary graduate visa once they complete their studies. 07.01.2022 2019 BUDGET: ANNOUNCED CHANGES TO IMMIGRATION Additional points for primary applicants From November 2019, the Skilled Migration Points Test will be adjusted to... award additional points to primary applicants when their partner has competent English but does not meet the existing requirements for skilled partner points. 2 new regional visas From November 2019, two new regional visas will be implemented: the Skilled Work Regional (Provisional) visa, and the Skilled Employer Sponsored Regional (Provisional) visa. VACs to increase on 1 July 2019 The Government is increasing the base visa application charge (VAC) for all visa subclasses, with the exception of the Visitor (subclass 600) visa, by 5.4 per cent from 1 July 2019. There will be no increase to second instalment VACs. 07.01.2022 Update regarding the below, no further amendments were made to the definition of worker in relation to recent amendments to the Workers Compensation and Injury Management Act 1981. It is our understanding that the Courts of WA have held if you dont have a visa, hold a visa with conditions not allowing to work or are working outside conditions restricting your ability to work then it will be difficult to make a successful claim for workers compensation.

Well done to Chris Johnston and team. All State and Territory governments were represented except Western Australia - my home State. Embarrassing and pretty poor effort Mark McGowan and the Department of Training and Workforce Development. No wonder we are following not leading. Well done to all other governments particularly SA which, for obvious reasons, was well represented. Regardless they looked, sounded and acted like they were actually interested in positive outcomes for migrants.
