23.01.2022 Due to the Covid-19, this year the Perth Lions Club Children's Xmas Party has been cancelled. We regretfully needed to make this decision in light of all the other events being cancelled / delayed and current restrictions within the state. We will be back next year.... The Perth Lions Club would like to wish everyone a Happy and safe Xmas and a better New Year.

22.01.2022 Sunday was a big day for the Perth Lions Club, working at the Tasmania State Rally for CMCA (Campervan and Motorhome Club of Australia) members. There were 160 motorhomes, campervans, caravans and fifth-wheelers enjoying the rally at the showground in Campbell Town for 4 days. Sunday we started with a Poets Breakfast including poetry with a bacon and egg roll. This was followed by and Open Day for the public to join in and a Market Day, accompanied with sausage and hambu...rger sandwiches. To finish off the Perth Lions Club members served a BBQ dinner for all 250 people who attended. A tremendous effort from the Perth Lions working in shift over the day. A big thank you to Lion Ralph and Lion Curtis for being at the BBQs all day. The Tasmanian members of the Australian Motorhoming Lions Club were also available and assisting the Perth Lions club where needed. We were lucky to have a perfect day to be outdoors, everyone was happy to be out enjoying the markets, music and the good food available. All funds raised are being given to the Campbell Town Hospital Auxilliary.

21.01.2022 GOOD ON YA GORDON Merimbula Lions volunteer Gordon Matthews has been helping at the evacuation centre in Bega for four days straight. He usually starts at 6...AM helping direct traffic, unloading supplies and answering questions from evacuees before finishing at 11 PM at night. He said there’s plenty of water and food at the centre. We have bucketloads of bottled water. I reckon we’ve got enough to irrigate the Bega Valley. ABC: Adriane Reardon

21.01.2022 Last year the Perth Primary School contacted us with an enquiry about building a new deck at the school to give the students another area to use for play, reading and even some drama performances! Thanks to fundraising efforts through our club and the local community the Perth Lions were able to jump at the opportunity. Over many weekends the enthusiastic volunteers put their heads down and completed this worthwhile project. We as a club hope that the students of the Perth Primary School will be able to use and enjoy this deck for many years to come.

11.01.2022 On Tuesday night at our fortnightly dinner meeting, we had the pleasure of hosting Allan from the Longford Mens Shed. Allan explained to the Lions Club the importance of this local, not for profit community facility. For ages 50 up this facility provides a support facility for up to 60 regular members where they can discuss life, while making craft items to donate, or sell to the local community. The Charter board behind Allan and President Carol was made by the Longford Mens... Shed. If you or anyone you know is struggling with mental health, please call lifeline on 13 11 14

07.01.2022 The Club takes its responsibility to its members’ health very seriously and has decided, given the enormous problems posed by the COVID-19 virus, to suspend its meetings. Club activities will continue as normal, at least as much as possible under the adverse circumstances. Projects will be organized electronically.... The Club normally offers strong support to the local ANZAC Day service, including by providing morning tea. Although ceremonies have been cancelled, we shall still honour ANZAC Day by laying wreathes at the various cenotaphs. We shall continue to support individuals and organisations as in the past. People needing to contact the Club are asked to still do so through direct contact with a Club member or our Facebook page. We are confident that our support for each other in these difficult times will see us through. Yours sincerely The Lions Club of Perth Tasmania

07.01.2022 If you haven't entered the 2019 Tasmanian Trout Classic it's still not too late to enter. You could win some great prizes!

06.01.2022 At the most recent Club meeting, it was decided to support two organisations whose fundraising efforts were highlighted in The Examiner a little over a week ago. A cheque has been presented to Endometritis Australia in support or the 200 km (Carrick to Hobart) bike ride Belinda Cohen undertook to raise funds for this most worthy cause. More information about Belinda’s challenge can be found at https://www.examiner.com.au//new-national-action-plan-ann/ The second organizatio...n to receive our support was the New Horizons Club in support of their Western Tiers Cycle Challenge fundraiser. More information can be found at https://www.examiner.com.au//new-horizons-is-cycling-for-/ A further donation was made to Invermay’s 'She-shed'. This is a place where women can go to connect with others, develop friendships and improve their overall wellbeing through participation in art-related activities. The image shows the Club’s 1st Vice President presenting a cheque to Belinda as she passed through Perth on her way to Hobart. It occurred at 5.45 am just prior to a huge storm descending. See more
