Following on from this weekends isolation advice handed down by the Prime Minister and WA Premier on non-essential gatherings, the Player Management has met this evening to discuss and decide the future of band practices for the foreseeable future. The decision to cancel practices is the easy part of this unprecedented situation. It's where we go from here and how we keep our membership engaged is the key. It will be practice as usual for members on a weekly basis, at home. Tutors will be in touch with individuals to ensure contact is continual, and that players have a future focus on self improvement. The goals are set, and the work is well underway by our dedicated playing members to achieve them. ... Were inviting you to video your very best band or solo performance and upload it for expert evaluation and a detailed written critique. We are accepting on-line recordings right now for the following categories: Grade 4b - Selection of Marches Grade 3 - Medley A Grade Solo Piping - Hornpipe and Jig D Grade Solo Piping - 2/4 March (2 parts) B Grade Solo Snare - MSR D Grade Solo Tenor - 2/4 March (4 Parts) If all goes well, more categories will be rolled out later - after this first event has been tested. 1. Entries in these initial categories will close Sunday 5th April at 12:01pm AEST. 2. Entrants must shoot a new video and upload it to a public video site (such as YouTube) and upload a link to the video on this FaceBook event page (https://www.facebook.com/events/3622758054465522/). Please do not attempt to post video directly to this FaceBook event page - only post a link! 3. The quality of the sound, the professionalism of the video and the turnout of the group will all help in making an enjoyable performance to watch. 09.01.2022 3 April 2020 2020 WORLD PIPE BAND CHAMPIONSHIPS CANCELLED The World Pipe Band Championships 2020, due to take place at Glasgow Green on Friday 14 and Saturday... 15 August have been cancelled. The event, which attracts around 200 bands from around the world to compete, will return to Glasgow in 2021. The World Pipe Band Championships have been held in Glasgow every year since 1986. Inveraray and District Pipe Band are the current world champions. Ian Embelton, Chief Executive of the Royal Scottish Pipe Band Association said: The World Pipe Band Championships is the competition where bands, pipers and drummers want to test themselves against the very best. Behind every band that competes there are months of practising together, weeks of planning to get the bands to the arenas and vast amounts of fundraising and none of this can be done now. The safety of everyone taking part and the integrity of the competition at all grades were the key factors in taking this decision now. Although very disappointed we will look forward to being back at Glasgow Green in 2021. Councillor David McDonald, Chair of Glasgow Life, and Depute Leader of Glasgow City Council said: The World Pipe Band Championships has been associated with Glasgow longer than any other major summer event. This decision was taken in consultation with the RSPBA and EventScotland but was still difficult, even though we know it is the right one. Glasgow comes alive with the sound of Pipe Bands in August and we are very much looking forward to welcoming the championships back next year. Glasgow first hosted the World Pipe Championships in 1948. Last year 195 bands from 13 nations competed in front of around 35,000 people bringing people from around the world to play and spectate boosting the economy in Glasgow and Scotland.

08.01.2022 This week the band resumes practice after a 2 month isolation. Our learners / Grade 4 & Grade 3 commence on Monday the 25th May and our Grade 2 band commencing Wednesday the 27th May. We are back at our usual practice venue each night, The School of Instrumental Music in Maylands....
