13.01.2022 A big thank you to this years Carpenter Cup teams. Sandalford and Swan Valley were in the final with Swan Valley running out the winners! Tex Webster, Erin Wheatley, Joolz Nasir , Jasper Webster and Gibson Bell. Best Playing Pony was awarded to Trav, owned by Greg and Michelle Rodwell. Most Valuable Player was awarded to Joolz Nasir. Best groom went to Martin Ortega ( Polo Kidogo )... The Subsidiary Final was played as a round - round with Polo Kidogo, Tanglefoot and Perth competing to take home the silverware. Congratulations to Tanglefoot ending up the victors! Lyall Steer, Hannah Scolaro, Adrian Cobley and Pete Rodwell. Thanks to everyone for a great weekend and spring polo season. However the field remains open for you to walk (with appropriate space!) and enjoy the amenity that may hopefully, even for a moment help you take your mind off the current situation. 08.01.2022 Perth Polo Club will be opening the Kings Meadow grounds in GUILDFORD to evacuees of the Wooroloo Fire. Important things to note: YOU MUST BRING YOUR OWN PORTABLE YARDS - the grounds do not have any permanent yard facilities due to nature of ground use. YOU MUST BRING OWN FEED AND WATER BUCKETS YOU MUST BRING YOUR OWN FEED/HAY... ANY ADDITIONAL PETS MUST BE SECURED ON LEASH OR IN APPROPRIATE CARRY CAGES. YOU MUST REMAIN WITH YOUR ANIMALS - or arrange for a fellow evacuee to keep watch if you’re needing to leave. PLEASE MAKE CONTACT BEFORE ARRIVING - we are working on getting more members on site to be able to assist in intake and set up. This devastating fire is rapidly changing and has already impacted so many, our own committee and members included and our hearts go out to all affected. 05.01.2022 Weekend recap - Perth Polo Club were proud to host Walkaway’s annual tournament at Kings Meadow! Kindly sponsored by Hygain Two teams competed for the ‘Cobley Cup’ in the C Grade. Crimson Park took on Walkaway in a hard fought 8 chukka game played over two days. ... Walkaway came out the winners with their team consisting of Alice Dawkins, Jasper Webster, Kate Allen and Glindon Webster. MVP was awarded to Dwayne Allen and Champion Pony went to 8 year old ‘Pumpkin’, owned by Stu and Julie Bolingbroke and ridden by their youngest daughter Lara. Three teams made up the B Grade for this years Murchison Cup. Alkapellet PH PLUS, Sandalford and Walkaway played under a round-robin format. An impressive Saturday of polo made for a great final on Sunday. Alka and Sandalford ran out the runners-up leaving Walkaway to take home the silverware! The famous blue and white shirts of Walkaway were worn by Chloe Allen ( Saturday) /Solomon Iddrissi ( Sunday ), Zeb Vincent, Hannah Scolaro and Noel Vincent. MVP went to Noel Vincent and Champion Pony was awarded to Darcy, owned and ridden by Hannah Scolaro. Finally, two teams battled it out for the A grade. Our sponsors team, Hygain, took on Perth Gold, competing for the Williams Cup. Like the C Grade, the A Grade was played as an 8 chukka game, over the two days. After Saturday’s game, Hygain would have the edge over their opposition going into Sunday, leading 6 goals to Perth Gold’s 5. Unfortunately for Perth Gold, they never made a comeback, letting their opponents Zac Johnson, Adrian Cobley, Peter Prendiville Jnr and Glindon Webster lift the trophy after the final bell. MVP was awarded to Scott Allen and Champion Pony was given to Ignite, owned by Peter and Deborah Prendiville and ridden by their son, Peter Prendiville Jnr. Congrats to all. Big shout out to all the hard working grooms who make it all possible. Next weekends polo will be held Serpentine Polo Club. See you there!
