22.01.2022 Lot of people wanting to know about mineral pools lately will give you a quick run down Mineral vs Salt. Both Mineral and Salt pools use electrolysis to convert the Mineral/Salt into Chlorine Gas to sanitise the Pool. Mineral pools are nicer to swim in and people find there less likely to have skin irritations.... It really boils down to cost, Mineral ranges from $28-$50 per bag and regular pool Salt $7-$12 a bag. With the average pool needing 6-8 bags Perth year. Mineral systems also have a higher purchase price. The choice is more about comfort of your swim experience my experience with customers with mineral pools is they love it. You can also mix and match salt/mineral in both systems.
22.01.2022 Often we get asked about Calcium build up on pool surfaces and electrodes. Some areas in the state are worse than others for calcium in the water supply. But most comes from using Calcium Hypochlorite (Powdered Chlorine). If you have a Salt pool avoid using this at all cost it will damage your electrode add to calcium build up and can make the pool cloudy. If you find you need more chlorine make sure the Salt, PH and Stabilizer levels are correct first, then increase outp...ut and running time. In really high demand times (Summer) use either Tablet or Liquid Chlorine to help. As we are heading into winter this shouldnt be a problem and most pool running times can be reduced saving on power consumption and bleaching due to too much chlorine. Below is some information on were our water supply comes from this can be a factor in different calcium levels ect. https://www.watercorporation.com.au/Our/Perths-water-supply

19.01.2022 Most pools in Perth at least are Salt Chlorinated the main factors in the pool going green is warm weather and high PH. Warm water encourages Algae growth and reduces Chlorine lifespan. To combat this we recommend a regular small dose of Acid to keep the PH in check 7.2/7.4 is ideal. Also run the salt Chlorinator output on high and increase running hours. ... One last recommendation is to remove the blanket or at least roll it back 1/3 letting the pool vent. Thanks all hope you had a great Xmas
16.01.2022 With this warm weather be careful leaving Pool Blankets on, the water temp increase will help Algee grow. If you have a salt Pool Increase the running time or chlorine output. Test PH and Chlorine levels regularly .

13.01.2022 Bust a Myth time! Sand in Sand Filters does not need to be changed regularly it does not wear out, if you backwash often for a short time and dont run the backwash water too far away from the Filter. Most sand changes are for the Pool techs turnover and a chance to sell a new filter.... True Story
12.01.2022 "How to Backwash a Pool Sand Filter" Turn off the pool pump. Set the filter valve handle to the BACKWASH position and ensure the handle locks in place.... Turn on the pump and backwash for 2 minutes or until the water in the sight glass (located on the filter) is running clear. Turn Off the Pump. Set the filter valve handle to the RINSE position and ensure the handle locks in place. Turn on the pump and run the rinse process for 1 minute or until the water in the sight glass is clear. Try and do this every 3/4 weeks
10.01.2022 People ask when and how long should I run my pool? Being that most pools in Perth are Salt Chlorinated we will look at them mainly. As pool temperature increases and more people are swimming your pool will need more Chlorine to cope. Always make sure the output on your salt chlorinator is set to maximum. If you dont have Solar PV on your house around 8hrs in total is best this time of year, 6am-8am 6pm-12pm with solar panels run it say 9am-5pm you can mix these hours up a little to what suits. Not running the pool enough time means you will need to buy extra chlorine and that works out much more expensive than a few extra hours running. Also super important keep a eye on the PH level keep it down around 7.2- 7.4.
07.01.2022 Building a Pool? Think about a water feature, infinity edge maybe? Leave that for the resorts/hotel water features and infinity edges look great but in many cases cause more problems than there worth. Water feature can reduce temperature, waste precious water, increase chlorine loss and be terribly noisy. Most pool owners never use them.... If you want a water feature my suggestion is make a totally seperate one not connected to the pool. Personal opinion only .
06.01.2022 Even though its cold and wet outside dont forget the pool 10 minutes now can save $$$ later. When it comes to the cleanliness of the pool surfaces, there are three main tasks: Skim Off Leaves and Debris... Brush Sediment from Pool Walls Vacuum the Pool - Manually, or using an automatic pool cleaner. The next area of maintenance is maintaining water clarity and balance. In most cases, you can sustain healthy pool water by ensuring you address the three core elements of watercare: circulation, cleaning and chemistry. Circulation: Moving water is cleaner and clearer. Run your pump and filter daily to maximise circulation. Cleaning: Refer to the three tasks listed above. Chemistry: The balance of chemicals in the water is critical to the health and safety of your pool. The three fundamentals of pool water chemistry are: 1. pH levels: How acidic or basic your pool water is - low pH levels are acidic, while high levels are basic. The ideal range for your pool is 7.4 to 7.6. 2. Alkalinity: Works as a pH buffer and helps bypass extreme fluctuations in basicity or acidity. The ideal range is 100 to 150 parts per million (ppm). 3. Sanitiser levels: The amount of chlorine, bromine, etc. in your pool water. The ideal levels vary depending on which type of sanitiser used.
04.01.2022 With the storms lately many pools are full to overflowing and quite a lot of debris. If you have a sand filter try using the Vacuum to waste option. This will help threefold you will vacuum much quicker, reduce the pool water level and guarantee to be getting rid of 100% of the fine dust, Algee ect on the pool floor.... Be careful not to drain below the skimmer and be mindful of where the waste water is going your neighbours may not appreciate a new water feature .
