23.01.2022 **potentially sorted** Are you looking to increase your fur family? There's 2 little girls who are approx 4 months old that are possibly looking for their new home due to their owner probably needing to leave the country. Both girls are well handled and don't have any health issues that we're aware of. This is a direct rehome. ... They are use to a quiet home where they get long free range times. They'll likely not do well in a noisy home with other pets (ie cats, dogs etc). Will not be rehomed to a home that has male rats unless the males are desexed. If you could possibly help with a forever home please private message us. See more
21.01.2022 The weather in Perth is starting to warm up. It's a good time to freeze some water bottles ready for helping cool down little fur family members.
19.01.2022 It's that time of year in Perth where the weather is getting colder and respiratory issues may flare up due to the change in seasons. There's been some confusion about what are "normal" sounds and what are respiratory sounds. Bruxing for example is when rats grind their top and bottom teeth together, this helps grind down their teeth and can be a sign of a content rat however it can also be a sign of a distressed rat. If the bruxing is followed by eye boggling then it is a v...ery content rat. Bruxing sounds similar to someone using a nail file on nails. Respiratory infections can be silent to begin with but can also present like a sniffly nose, sneezing, porphyrin around the eyes or nose, chirpy sounds, crackling/popping when their chest is listened to plus other variations of these things. Rats breathing shouldn't be heard, if you can hear it then it's time to consult with a vet. Rats can chatter but it's often not heard by us as the wavelength the sound is produced on is outside our hearing range. Rats can be heard meeping, screaming etc when put in situations that they do not like. We usually don't provide links to pages that are not Australian based as information from the USA/ UK can vary from ours due to different illness's that those other countries have however we found this info which provide video of what bruxing sounds like and what respiratory can sound like that we thought would assist new people with recognizing the differences. We hope this helps. https://aboutpetrats.com/pet-rat-sounds-good-bad/ See more

17.01.2022 ~Happy ending, the boys and their owner have found someone to help them out. You know who you are, thank you. **special ask** Do you live in the Morley area? I have a lovely gentleman that needs somewhere to house his 2 male rats. He doesn't want to give them up but has to move to a no pets home. He would like to visit the rats often and is willing to pay for their general upkeep/vet costs. Both boys are around 5 months old, well handled but have been prone to some respirat...ory issues. Their owner, Richard, is lovely but heartbroken at the prospect of giving up his rats. Please PM the page if you think you can help. See more

10.01.2022 We've been informed of someone with quite a large number of rats in Golden Bay that they need to rehome. If you're in a position to add to your fur family please pm the page for contact details. **please note these are being privately rehomed and are not PRRR rats.
08.01.2022 It has come to our attention that some people are contacting rat owners that are needing to rehome their animals and making claims they're from PRRR, Work for PRRR or are PRRR. We want to make it very clear that this is NOT how PRRR works, we do not go through gumtree and search for rats needing rehoming, we often do not approach people to offer a home to their animals. If people contact us, via email, phone, facebook message etc then we may be able to assist but we do not go... searching for animals to bring into care. If someone approaches you claiming to be from PRRR in any way please contact us straight away and we can confirm or deny the affiliation. In addition to this, these people may send you images of their cage set ups that are NOT theirs but taken from google images etc. PRRR has been running for 13 years, people using our good name to try and find cheap or free rats is absolutely NOT okay and may indicate that their care standards are not up to par! If you are found to be using the PRRR name as a way to convince people to give you rats please know that we will start making your names known to the public. We will not have all of our hard work, or our registered charity status compromised by people that are using it for their own gain for whatever reason. Thank you to those that have brought this to our attention and those that are doing the right thing. See more
07.01.2022 FOUND https://www.facebook.com/266423066794198/posts/2329318653837952?sfns=mo Dear friends we need your help, A few days ago I posted about how some lowlife jum...ped our fence and broke the lock on our unreleasable education possum’s enclosure, releasing him. We were blessed that he stayed nearby and came back the next night for dinner so we got him back soon after. Whoever this person is is at it again and has let out one of our rescue animals, Arya the eclectus parrot. While not an education animal Arya is a member of our family that I promised would never have to be bounced back and forth between homes ever again. Arya is a troubled bird with a traumatic past that has come so far with our family and I am both furious at whoever this is and terrified for my girl; please please share this if you are in the Perth metro area. Police incident report number 300320184485155 Warning: she bites. She also laughs and says a family member’s name; the name I can give to identify her if required but I also have many photos and will know my bird. Plus she is microchipped. Call me immediately on 0416973780 if found. Hillman, east Rockingham. LATEST UPDATE: Possibly spotted flying towards Kwinana town centre or the person may be pulling my leg. I have gone to see the eclectus found in Mandurah on 31/3 and do not believe it is mine.
07.01.2022 Hello I'm Scruff! Its not the most ladylike name, i know, but thats what Olivea called me so thats what im stuck with! I was also one of the up to 50+ rats dump...ed in Craigie last week. It's been a huge case and we have relied on so many members of the public and multiple vet teams, we truly couldn't do it without you all. I was one lucky rattie to be found by such a lovely couple but sadly some of my brothers and sisters are still out there in this cold stormy weather, many will potentially pass due to exposure as they are patchwork rats. This is a very sad and completely avoidable situation, so please keep an eye out for my brothers and sisters in Craigie and surrounding areas WA. #pnmrr #pnmratrescue #ratrescueperth #ratrescuewa #ratrescue #dumpedrats
06.01.2022 Don't forget to check you have enough food to feed your rats for an extended time. If you do end up in self isolation and need bedding/food but don't have family or friends that can help let us know and hopefully the rat keeping community can help each other.
05.01.2022 Female rats cannot "hold" sperm. Rats gestation is around 21-23 days but they can sometimes delay labour for a few days if needed. Generally speaking, if a rat gives birth they had interactions with an unaltered male 23 days prior.
05.01.2022 Bunbury area, little guy found.
04.01.2022 A female rat has just been brought into PRRR care after being left in a cardboard box outside in this horrid weather. Please people, don't do this! Find a safe solution to rehoming your pets, it's your responsibility to make sure they're safe. This one was lucky and was found but many others aren't.
03.01.2022 *REHOMED* 2 little girls located in Balga looking for a new home. The girls are approx 2 months old with no known health or behavior issues. They will come with their cage also but you'll need to have your own hammocks etc. If you think you can offer these girls a home please pm us for more details.
02.01.2022 Does anyone live Rockingham way that could help capture what seems to be a young domestic rat and care for the rat. If you've lost a rat in this area please private message us with a description. The finder can't catch the little one as she's fearful of it. This is somewhat URGENT. Please pm the page if you can help.
01.01.2022 *boys are safe** Can anyone take on 2 x male rats please? Approx 8 months old and need to find somewhere by tonight. We're at capacity at the moment. If you can help please pm the page. Location Clarkson
