25.01.2022 About the size of a grain of rice, a microchip is your pets best chance of being returned safely home if they do go missing. However, sadly, 40% of microchips have inaccurate data or arent registered. Remember, should you ever move house or even change your phone number to also update your furry friends microchip details. #NationalLostPetPreventionMonth

20.01.2022 Hi, my name is Oreo and I jumped from a 2-storey building. Im fine. 4-month-old Oreo fell from his home balcony, falling at least two floors to the ground. Appearing to be his normal self after the accident, Oreos hooman brought him to us to make sure all was ok since our feline friends are masters of hiding injuries and pain. Most likely having pulmonary contusions (bruising on the lungs) as well as having harsh lung sounds, Oreo stayed with us overnight to ensure he didnt develop any respiratory issues. Oreo was the purr-fect patient overnight with a very good appetite and developed no further ill-effects of his misadventure, and was able to go home to his hoomans.

19.01.2022 With the colder weather most of us, including our pets, are rugged up inside and possibly not getting much exercise! Even in winter exercise is important for our pets, and there are still fun indoor activities you can do to keep your pet healthy and active when its too cold to go outside: Buy new toys, or even rotating their current toys Play fetch down the hallway (try rolling the ball to avoid knocking anything over), even our cats like to chase If you have ...stairs try throwing the ball to the top of the staircase to give your pup extra exercise Try interactive toys Using healthy treats, create a treasure hunt around the house (use different levels for cats to get them jumping) See more

18.01.2022 Did you know 1 in 3 pets will become lost, just like this little cutie pie? We have many lost pets come through our hospital doors each year. Every lost pet that comes into our care receives a veterinary check, immediate first aid treatment if needed, shelter and safety until we can reunite them with their families. With July being National Lost Pet Prevention Month, it makes it the perfect time to ensure your furry friends microchip is properly registered with up-to-date-information.

17.01.2022 Meet beautiful Coca, a 3-year-old Samoyed. Cocas hooman found her chewing on a small bottle of hand sanitiser. Cocas new toy was taken off her and placed it in the bin for safety. But 40 minutes later Coca started acting strange. Suspecting she may have ingested some of the contents of the bottle, Coca was rushed to us along with the evidence (the chewed bottle). Upon examination it was found that Coca had ingested enough of the hand sanitiser to show the effects of alcohol... poisoning. Most hand sanitiser often contains ethanol (alcohol). Like other types of alcohol, hand sanitiser can be toxic to our pets, with symptoms increasing in severity depending on the amount ingested. After IV fluids to help metabolise and clear the alcohol from her system overnight, Coca went home feeling much better and happier. With hand sanitiser now being a staple everywhere, its good to know it can be toxic to our pets if ingested in large amounts. 04.01.2022 Did you know rat bait is highly toxic to dogs, causing uncontrolled internal bleeding if ingested? Meet 7-year-old Beagle siblings, Toby and Sasha. After finding their way into some rat bait, this furry Bonnie and Clyde duos regular vet referred them to us for coagulation testing (determines the bloods ability to clot). Unfortunately, the tests showed both Toby and Sasha had the bleeding disorder coagulopathy (when the clot-forming ability is impaired) from ingesting the bait. Luckily theres an antidote to rodenticide a course of vitamin K therapy. As well as the antidote, Toby and Sasha will be having check-ups at their regular vet to ensure they recover well.
