20.01.2022 ONE FOR THE GUYS Though it may sound like a generalisation, I will say, that many Men put their health very low on the priorities list and as a result are prone to disease and mortality earlier than women. Let me tell you up front - your health is important. When you’re healthy and in tune with your physical & mental body - you can perform in a safer, stronger and more beneficial way, holistically.... When you have a concern or notice a change in your body - have it checked. There are people who love and care about you and want you around for a very long time. These are the facts. According to the 2016 Australia Bureau of Statistics - the top 10 causes of premature death in men in Australia are; Prostate Cancer Heart Disease Lung/Trachea Cancer Respiratory Disease Colon/Rectum Cancer Blood/Lymph Cancer Diabetes Suicide Dementia and Alzheimer’s Cerebrovascular Disease MANY of the above are preventable; Good lifestyle choices such as eating a balanced diet, monitoring mental exhaustion, maintaining regular checkups and moderate exercise all assist with disease prevention. Learning to balance yourself is hard, so explore what's important to you, what you want from your life and make sure, you're factoring those values in to your time as well. 11.01.2022 L I F E Life throws all sorts of obstacles at you and so it's important to know that life can and will get back on track. You are stronger than you realise and I'm going to share a little bit of my rollercoaster so you know what I mean. This photo was taken last October on Charlotte's 4th Birthday. We look pretty happy and you probably wouldn't have known it, but I was pretty run down and exhausted! I had put some weight back on, I wasn't eating or sleeping very wel...l and was feeling pretty low in general. 2019 was actually a more challenging year than 2020 for me. (YES, I'm not kidding!) My husband had spent a significant number of months in and out of hospital and there were quite a few scary moments which led to some massive changes to our working life as I took on 'carer' and primary worker role. I was flying back and forth to Queensland to care for my uncle (my father figure) as well who was very sick and in hospital, he passed away just before this day in October and we were literally flying out that night to be at the funeral. .... even our house was broken into and ALL of my sentiments items were taken shortly after we returned from the funeral.... When it comes to 2019 the list literally goes on and on... you honestly can't make it up! But when the rollercoaster came to an end, I hopped off, dusted myself off and regrouped. There are always times that you have to rebuild - you lose a loved one, your family dynamics change, you go through hardships and loss. It can be extremely challenging and hard work BUT it does come to an end eventually. The tide changes, you learn more about yourself - your amazing ability to cope and find strategies to heal. This is life. It is exactly what we make of it. I know that there will be another difficult time ahead but right now everything is fine, we are healthy and happy and that's all that matters. You can't change the past and you can't predict the future. So if you're on a rollercoaster right now - I'm here to tell you. Everything will be ok. You will be ok. You got this.

10.01.2022 G E N E S This is something to really consider and understand when it comes to thinking about what you put on or in your body, not to mention what you surround yourself with. When it comes to gene expression - we know that even the effects of emotional and traumatic events can be transmitted to subsequent generations through epigenetic inheritance (Wow)! Say what now?! Drugs, Chemicals, Temperatures, Light, Stress, Foods and Drinks, Perfumes, Air Qualities, ...Water etc all impact your gene expression. These influences can have a positive, negative or neutral effect. It's impossible for me to explain the extent of this in a single post so here's just one example for you! When we eat, everything is broken down in to tiny molecules such as carbohydrates, proteins and fat. These molecules are broken down further into glucose or amino acids... and these molecules are transported throughout the body to be used as energy or building blocks. It's been shown that gene expression for chronic disease can be modulated by your diet. When you eat clean, healthful food - your body uses all of those molecules for optimal gene expression and provides cell protection. When you eat artificial chemically altered products (let's not call them food) then your body processes them differently. Sure you might feel temporarily satisfied but your body is not using them the same way! We know that junk food, changes the genetic expression of the gut microbiome as well as your own genetic expression. It's a double whammy! Bad food does not feed your gut microbiome adequately, which results in limited expression of Serotonin - the feel good hormone we need to feel happy. There are simple processes like this one going on 24/7 in your body. Feed your body well and your cells will thrive. 09.01.2022 O V E R N I G H T O A T S Recipe coming up! This is a staple in my household for those times when we need some extra hormone support. Overnight Oats are easy and delicious, help clean out excess hormones and save time when you're trying to find something quick it eat for breakfast!... Simply grab a glass jar and add 1/2 cup of wheat free organic oats plus 3/4 cup of nut milk. Add any toppings of your choice - walnuts, pepitas, cacao nibs, blueberries and sunflower seeds etc. Stir and place in fridge overnight. The next day - your oats are ready to eat! Add some maple syrup and eat straight from the jar OR pour into a bowl and top with strawberries! I often take a jar to the beach and eat them while watching the waves - bliss! Enjoy! See more

07.01.2022 T R U T H Isn't that the fun of the whole life experience? There's nothing more exciting than throwing yourself into a situation of discomfort and seeing what happens. I'm doing it myself right now and it's liberating. You learn about yourself, how you externalise with others and tools and strategies to cope. ... Yes - there's risks but if we're only here for such a short time, isn't it worth making the most out of this experience? No one is going to even worry about what you did, that one time... 50 years ago. If you follow the same pattern and cycles, you can only expect the same outcome. This can be applied to everything you do in life. The way you argue with others, the way you eat, the way you think about yourself, the way you react etc, BUT if you make a change - the outcome will change and you'll learn more and grow as an individual. The unknown can be scary but if you utilise the support around you, you'll find that there are people out there who can guide and accompany you along the journey. Remember - Don't let pride and ego get in the way of personal growth and your overall experience. You don't know everything (hard fact), so why not learn and take advantage of what others have to share with you. Happy Friday

04.01.2022 S U N L I G H T Make an effort where possible to see the sunrise and set at least once a week. Make time for this in your schedule when planning your week. I try my hardest to do it every single day... why?! You might think it's such a simple and non-important exercise but I'm here to tell you - Humans need light for survival. ... Red Light, which is available in abundance in the early morning and late afternoon, fuels our cells at the basic form of ATP energy, it improves our immune system capabilities, it increases the production of serotonin in the brain (our feel good hormone), it's brilliant for our mental health and mood and it helps build health bones. Yes - sunlight CAN be harmful, so it helps to regulate when you're expose to sunlight. Typically in Perth summer, between the hours of 9:30am and 4:00pm is our no go time, because the UV light during this time can be harmful to cells and cause cellular disruption and damage. So, be careful during these times and exercise caution. Making a change to connect with nature is so important to human health. We are, at the end of the day, connected with and a part of the natural world. So plan, take the time and encourage others to enjoy the simple things that can bring so much joy. See you at the beach

02.01.2022 2 0 2 1 I love a New Year!! First up - let’s not dwell on the past let’s stick to the present moment. Everything is about mindset and how you, authentically, go towards your future. Tips for 2021 Goal Setting! ... 1. Be realistic. Set small goals with an overall vision on what you would like to achieve. Make your plan attainable, this is the best way to nurture and support yourself if you are serious about change. 2. Make a Pros and Cons list so you can clearly see WHY you are making this change and understand your intentions behind it. 3. Explore past ‘failures’ on intentions and why you haven’t succeeded - learn from these so you can change the way you work towards a goal. 4. Be honest. Tap into your heart space and ask whether this change is coming from your true self OR whether you’re making a change because you think you have to. Real change comes when you’re truly ready. 5. Don’t go Cold Turkey. Whether that’s eating junk foods, smoking or drinking alcohol, plan to cut back slowly if you want to make long lasting change. Set yourself up with small goals, a support network and resources to keep you motivated. Being organized and well supported is key. The Cold Turkey approach is achievable if you’re fully supported BUT it can also result in relapse because of the sudden shock to the body.
