25.01.2022 Coolac Bypass Project. The Hume Highway is the main freight route between Sydney and Melbourne. It is also a vital transport link for communities and industries in southern NSW. The Works on the recently completed $150 M Coolac Bypass involved:... 11.8km of new plain concrete base dual carriageway motorway. 4.1km of new NB carriageway on improved alignment. Grade separated interchange at Cootamundra Road including a voided slab bridge (2 spans) over the dual carriageways. New twin bridges over a private property machinery access. New twin bridges over Daisy Bed Creek. Twin bridge underpass for local traffic at Coleman St in Pettit using twin voided slab bridges (single span) Replacement of narrow bridge at Muttama Creek with new twin bridges (7 span, driven RC piles and PSC planks) and demolition of the existing bridge. Provision of roadworks for rest areas for each direction of traffic. Approximately 1.5 million m3 of earthworks. Approximately 300,000 m2 of new concrete pavement. The construction of the project involved several stages with temporary traffic arrangements. The work was progressively opened to traffic as each stage is completed. PES developed specific checklists and safeguards against sub base cracking and was foremost in developing and enhancing the RTA specification for PCB following some significant cracking on this and the two adjacent alliance projects. These documents are now integral in the management of future CRCP and PCB contacts in South Western Region.

22.01.2022 Bonville Upgrade Project Bonville Upgrade was a more recent DCM project that involved PES in an integrated PRTA/PSC site management team. It included both CRCP and PBC pavements, with AC overlays and many bridges and three pairs of arch structures.... The project involved the design, construction and maintenance of new dual carriageways of the Pacific Highway between the northern extents of the Raleigh Deviation Project to the southern extent of the Lyons Road to Englands Road Project, a distance of 9.8 km. The project included Interchanges, Overpass bridges, bridges across waterways, a roundabout, twin tunnels Noise attenuation, Security and fauna fencing, Property adjustments and adjustments to Services.
22.01.2022 Nerang 8 Laning Project. The PSC included support in design and project management elements. The construction component of the contract involved several separate contracts including: Public Utility Plant adjustments totalling $5M.... Early bridge construction contracts totalling $7M. Package 6 (Value $54M) construction contract involving urban style construction including cut and cover tunnel, two Freeway Overbridges, major excavation involving contiguous piling. and retaining walls, flexible pavements, asphalt pavements, and enormously complex traffic staging issues. Package 5 construction contract (Value $34M) involving major semi-rural style roadwork construction on flexible pavements with asphalt base layers and surfacing. Miscellaneous contracts including contracts with Main Roads, RTCS. The project was extremely complex and proved a difficult administration project due mainly to some rather poorly presented plans. The Package 6 component was ultimately completed under Alliance principles due to the extensive disruptions caused by the lack of suitable plans. The role of Professional Engineering Service Pty Ltd was to provide a Contract Superintendent (Allan Kennedy), and ultimately up to 9 field and administrative staff including Superintendent's Representatives, field Surveillance Officers for both road and bridge works, quality assurance representatives and office administration personnel. The original PSC contract was a Lump Sum, however the massive difference in numbers of staff required at commencement, compared to that eventually required resulted in a final consultancy fee of $3.8M (3.8%), under extremely adverse contractual circumstances.
