One of the largest bird netting projects completed to date in Australia, the work was accomplished by AvePro’s Victoria-based installation team in about 10 weeks. For over a decade, Pest IT has manufactured a range of cage traps as a solution for humanely capturing vertebrate pest animals and birds. The Magnet Trap range includes the well-known Myna Magnet Trap, which was developed as a result of extensive research conducted by the Australian National University. The use of the two-chamber trap revolutionised the trapping of suspicious and ‘trap-shy’ species including the Indian myna and the European starling. 14.01.2022 Pesties and friends, our collegue Raymond Lynch of RL Lynch Pest Control needs our help. Raymond has been a mate of mine for 25 + years working with Flick in Dubbo and Coffs Harbour and later in his own business in the Norther Rivers. We have done a bunch of netting jobs in Rural NSW with a big one only a few months back in Coffs. As by mate, its sad to hear that we may only have him for 2021. He has given all his pest gear away, decided to enjoy the time he has left and needing some experimental therapy to see out the year. But I'm guessing with our help, 2022 is looking good. Raymond is a good man and father - the best! Just thought I would share this so our industry can thank its own for a job well done. Thanks Raymond, pete

With presentations at recent conferences (including Rapid EduCon) relating to the newly updated Rodent Management Code of Practice, it has become abundantly clear that our industry has become heavily reliant on toxic rodenticide baits for rodent control. However, a truly professional and modern rodent management program involves much more than the placing of baits. Typically, a new commercial account is set up w...ith the chosen rodenticide spaced between 3-9 metres, inside and out, depending on the situation. What is interesting is that many commercial accounts have the capability to do this themselves, given how simply we as an industry approach rodent control. The proliferation of DIY products for sale on eBay, at Bunnings and on various websites is a reflection of this and should raise some level of concern. Yet, a true professional rodent management program will focus on inspection, detection and identification, monitoring, population mapping, trend analysis, detailed reporting and trapping of rodents. And as the Rodent Management Code of Practice suggests, using rodenticides is the last piece of the puzzle rather than the first. See more
