What are students saying about The Music Room: I liked learning about how orchestra can mix with rock music in Hans Zimmer’s ‘The Pirates of the Caribbean’ soundtrack - I like how all the different sections have their own detail but they sound awesome together! 21.01.2022 During lockdown I have been thrilled to be working with coaches from The Royal Opera House, Covent Garden. I would have been in Europe now working face to face with these incredible people but because of #coronavirus I couldn’t go. It’s been surprisingly wonderful to work online; I’ve just had an incredible session working on the role of Elisabeth from Wagner’s Tannhäuser - if you’ve never heard the overture to this opera I highly recommend - it’s currently my favourite piece of music!!! It reminds me of an epic movie soundtrack. There are so many things about this picture I love!The look on my face (because I have always been very serious about the accuracy of my intonation!) and my red Jelly shoes, and the shop behind me which appears to be selling a selection of bones... my hat that my auntie gave me from her world exploration (country...?) this was Atherton in the ‘90’s.

08.01.2022 Tacea la notte - Il trovatore, Verdi Petah Chapman and Ayesha Gough - although we are over 1,000k’s apart we had the pleasure of working together over the internet, we had never worked on this piece together in person but we’ve performed together before. We faced many challenges to performing this piece together over the internet!
